Wow, Did A Man On 'Love Is Blind' Finally Make A Good Decision?

The final episodes of season 6 of Love Is Blind finally dropped and before we could even get to the altar, we watched one of the only three remaining couples fall apart. *Spoiler Alert* Jimmy says he won’t marry Chelsea a mere 10 minutes into the episode. That’s right, Jimmy and Chelsea officially break up. Yeesh (but also, thank God).

And though my fingers are physically hurting from even typing this out, this may be the first time in LIB history that a man has made a healthy, good decision (aside from Cameron or Brett, our patron saints of LIB) regarding their relationship on the show. And can I just take a moment to say that I’m actually proud of Jimmy? I know how hard it is to finally get out of a toxic relationship, I’m glad he knew when to end things before they got worse.

Now, don’t get it twisted: Jimmy is far from perfect. Calling Chelsea “clingy” and making her feel embarrassed for often initiating sex was a dick move and I’m not particularly thrilled that he often texts and calls his girl friend who he’s literally had sex with in the past. But while Jimmy isn’t the best, Chelsea is the toxic queen. And she really wears that crown tight during this breakup.

While Jimmy explains that their big argument was the catalyst for his decision to end things, Chelsea ends up demonstrating a masterclass in gaslighting. Not only does she interrupt him while he’s trying to share his thoughts, but she tells him that she feels like she’s “walking on eggshells” because Jimmy gets so upset anytime she expresses her feelings. I’m sorry, but eggshells? Chelsea, sweetie, if the way you “express your feelings” is walking on eggshells, they aren’t just cracked and broken, they have disintegrated into dust.

And I absolutely hate using the word “nag” to talk about women but I can’t find any other way to describe the way Chelsea grasps at straws to constantly fish for issues or avoid taking any sort of accountability (is this internalized misogyny or is she that fucking annoying? You tell me). Even when she says she “apologized” for putting Jimmy and his friend’s business out there, she throws it in his face again! On camera, again!

When Jimmy stands his ground about not going to the altar, Chelsea accuses him of “throwing in the towel with one issue.” Did your eyes roll to the back of your skull, too? Her thinking that their argument was just “one issue” and not a clear example of the many deeply rooted issues their relationship (and mostly she) has is the perfect instance of her lack of self-awareness.

Whether you sympathize with Chelsea or Jimmy, it’s clear to anyone watching that their relationship is a disaster, and Jimmy honestly does Chelsea a favor by breaking things off before she has to walk down the aisle. And no matter how hateful or angry she feels about him breaking up with her, I just know she’s glad he didn’t do it while she was in a white dress in front of all of their family and friends.
