Betches' 'So Bad It's Good' Podcast Host Ryan Bailey Answers Our Super Personal Questions

Welcome to New to the Table, a series in which we welcome our newest Betches podcast hosts to the team and do what any kind, supportive relatives would do to the new person at a family dinner: grill the fuck out of them.

This isn’t your normal, boring Q&A. We’re getting personal (and probably too close for comfort) with our newest podcast hosts, asking them the questions that really matter, like what their last Google search was and what they’d do if they won the lottery. (Hint: It better involve front row seats to Taylor Swift’s Eras tour for the entire Betches staff and also maybe paying my monthly rent… thanks.)

This week, meet Ryan Bailey, the host of the Betches Media daily podcast So Bad It’s Good. Ryan dissects the best (and worst) entertainment has to offer, welcoming special guests to chat about all the latest headlines, big TV moments (past and present), and literally every scandal, feud, or Hollywood controversy that’s made us lose our shit. (We’re looking at you, Tom Sandoval.)

Alright, let’s start of simple: What’s your go-to karaoke song?

“Shallow” by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. I kill the Bradley Cooper parts.

Incredible. What’s your zodiac sign and what does it say about you?

Taurus. It means I can be stubborn and collect weird shit.

We luv weird shit. If you could switch lives with one person for a day, who would it be and why?

I gotta say Andy Cohen, because he gets to do talk shows every day, and he gets to be in a world where all the housewives have your phone number. I mean what a dream to have to deal with Ramona to Jenna Lyons calling, then to be whisked away to a Dead Show, he has a family life and he looks fucking great in a suit. 10/10.

Oh, there’s no question. 100% agree. If you could delete one social media platform forever, which one would it be?

It pains me to say it, but Twitter. The negativity and the echo chamber hate really ruined how incredible of a news source and a fun place to tell bad jokes it was.

The glory days of Twitter were unmatched. What’s the worst fashion trend you’ve ever participated in?

I shop at Old Navy so I’m probably not the best person to answer this question, but I did wear Ed Hardy shirts back in the day.

Low-key, Ed Hardy’s coming back! What would you do if you won the lottery?

I would buy a house next to Kris Jenner and then become ingratiated in their family.

That. Is. Genius. What’s the most embarrassing thing in your room right now?

I have Tom Girardi’s lingerie that he bought for another woman not Erika Jayne. I also have a massive oil painting of Tom and his brothers. All of this I won at auction, I really didn’t think I would win, but here we are.

No, no, no, no, no. I have no words. Um, what’s the most ridiculous thing you’ve ever bought while drunk online shopping (specifically something that *didn’t* once belong to Tom Girardi)?

I got an Instagram targeted ad for a white claw shirt and then it never came.

LOL. What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten?

I did eat fried scorpion but that’s probably tied with the goat cheese balls from SUR.

Okay, but I heard (from Stassi) the goat cheese balls are everything. What’s the most useless talent you have?

I usually know exactly when the commercial is going to come up and when the commercial is going to end on my DVR.

Not useless at all! What’s the worst pickup line you’ve ever heard (or used)?

Hi, I’m Andy Dick.

Next, what’s the most embarrassing thing you’ve ever Googled?

“How to be happy.”

What’s the most ridiculous lie you’ve ever told to impress someone?

When I was in junior high, I told someone I was up for the part of Robin in the Batman movie. I lived in Kansas, so there was no way that was true.

Listen, Paul Rudd’s from Kansas. You never know. Have you ever had a wardrobe malfunction in public? Tell us what happened.

Well, I did sweat through most of my clothes at the Betches photo shoot.

Why should we listen to your podcast?

Pop culture has always meant the world to me. Even when I was young, it opened up doors to my imagination and gave me a quest and a thirst for knowledge. These pop culture moments, whether it be, movies, tv, reality shows, or music, give us a language on how we can speak to each other. It brings us joy, it brings us pain. These are the things that we shouldn’t be ashamed of. It’s just as valid as any art form out there. Not only do we get to learn more about ourselves, but we learn more about the world.

Welcome to the family, Ryan. Now pass the potatoes.

New episodes of So Bad It’s Good come out weekdays and can be found on Apple, Spotify, or wherever you listen to podcasts.
