In a world where the internet is constantly telling me I’m not doing enough (sorry, TikTok, I left the 15-step morning routine back in 2020) there are few wellness trends that I actually deem worth it. Sure the hot girl walks for my silly little mental health have been helpful but what about all the shit that’s shoved in our face to buy to help aid that journey? As a millennial who will probably never own a home, not only can I not afford it all but I have no place to store all that shit without looking like a hoarder.

But, every once in a while, the internet spits out something that is, dare I say, helpful? And this year was no different. TBH, I can’t help but chase the high of someone promising me a stress-free life so I’m not joking when I say I tried around 50 different trends this year. Some good, some bad, and some that require ugly time — and only a few found their way to this list. Listen, I’m not saying that you need to go out and try every single one of these wellness trends in 2024 but I am saying that if you’ve been thinking about it, these are the ones that are *actually* worth it.

 I’ve never got more steps in my entire life — all while watching TV and sipping on a cutie little coffee??? Adding this walking pad into my daily routine has been a game changer. Just make sure you stretch before/after because walking in place for hours on end can lead to some tight AF hips. (Bonus points: you can hide this treadmill under the couch when you’re not using it).

Cottage cheese = not as disgusting as I thought it was

@thelifestyleofafoodie If you’ve been trying to find ways to incorporate a little extra protein in your diet, then you have to try this cottage cheese queso dip it’s perfect for game days or just for a little fun snack whenever you’re craving a little something salty! Find the detailed recipe on my website #QuesoDip #Protein #HighProteinSnack #Healthy #HealthyRecipe #CauseShe’s #CottageCheeseQuesoDip ♬ I’ll Be Around (feat. Timbaland) (Radio Mix) – Cee-Lo

If you were talking to me this time last year, I would have gagged when you mentioned cottage cheese but it 100% had a moment in 2023. It seems like we’re all on our own quest to eat more protein and TBH, mixing some taco seasoning, cheddar, and blended cottage cheese makes for a killer veggie dip. Hyperfixation on the term “blended” though…I cannot handle the texture otherwise. I like using this little food processor (that doubles as a margarita maker) for the best consistency.

Waking up to a light and not the jump scare that is your iPhone alarm is low-key incredible

@idahuang_ goal is to wake up at 7 am this week ☀️#alarmclock #sunrisealarmclock #morningperson #morningroutine #wakeupearly ♬ THV.1504Glimpse of Army – Babs🌟

I was hesitant about these sunlight alarms at first — for context, I’ve never really been a morning person and it usually takes me 3 snoozes before I even consider getting out of bed. But, when my schedule started getting fuller and the only time I could get my #cozycardio in was 6 AM, your girl had to find a new solution. I tried this Hatch sunrise alarm clock and wow, I didn’t know that waking up peacefully and not spiking my cortisol was possible. This one’s a keeper.

Speaking of light… I’m tired of being depressed at 4 PM in the winter

@youreawesomebiotch take that seasonal depression #seasonaldepression #sadlamp #videodiary ♬ Don’t Hate Me – Swing Set Version – Lola Young

There’s really no getting around the fact that the sun sets early during the winter months — so, if you’re feeling ballsy like me, you just find your own sunlight. This light has honestly changed my evenings for the better…I don’t feel like crawling into bed before dinner anymore I genuinely feel like it gives me some energy. On the plus side, it’s so small that you can keep it on your desk, in the kitchen while you’re cooking, or pretty much take it anywhere.

I don’t mind journalling if I only have to do it for, like, less than five minutes

@rayana.smith It’s important to practice gratituity because it helps us to appreciate life more and keeps us from focusing on the negative all the time✨ Order your Five minute journal today from @Intelligent Change #fiveminutejournal #gratitude #practicegratitude #gratitudejournal #contentcreator #ugccreator ♬ original sound – JoceWavy

Okay, so I was late to jump on the bandwagon with journalling but that’s only because the time it takes honestly gives me more anxiety than the practice is supposed to help with. I saw the 5-Minute Journal on (you guessed it) TikTok and gave it a try at the recommendation of a friend. As someone with a short attention span, I love that it has pre-set prompts and fill-in-the-blank dates so I don’t feel guilty if I miss it some days.

The magnesium mocktail everyone said “is amazing” actually is, well, amazing

@kaylagresh been in my sleepy girl mocktail era 😴💗✨ save mocktail recipe for later! Magnesium powder in my amazon SF under “kitchen” ✨ #sleepygirl #sleepygirlmocktail #mocktailrecipe #mocktail #thatgirl #satisfyingvideo #satisfyingsounds #asmr #asmrsounds #recipeasmr ♬ One kiss x i was Never There (薛易 Remix) – 薛易

As an anxious girly who loves a good nightcap, adding the Sleepy Girl Mocktail into my routine was a no-brainer, but I had no expectations that it would actually work. But, as someone with chronic headaches, I was already taking a magnesium supplement and thought it might be fun to ~romanticize~ things a bit. Not only have my headaches been kept at bay, but I’m also sleeping better and my tummy troubles haven’t been *quite* as bad. My fave magnesium powder is this one mixed with tart cherry juice.

A chronic headache girlie’s new BFF

If you’ve ever suffered from migraines, you’ll try just about anything once to help get rid of the pain. That’s why I never hit “buy now” so fast as when I saw this headache hat. To my surprise, it definitely helps. I’d recommend keeping it in the fridge (the freezer is a bit too cold and will only give you brain freeze) and ensuring the whole cap is covering your eyes for maximum light-blocking. Another hack to pair with it is sticking your feet in super hot water — seems to do the trick every time for me!
