OMFG The 'Wicked' Trailer Is Finally Here And I Am NOT OKAY

OMFG, finally. The Wicked trailer for the 2024 movie starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande is finally here and theatre girlies everywhere are losing their shit. The first look at the new film came out during Super Bowl Sunday on February 11, giving everyone a sneak peek at the musical movie…aka where Ariana Grande found love with SpongeBob aka Ethan Slater aka Boq in the film. Their relationship has been so widely discussed and analyzed that the movie has already established itself as a staple in pop culture history before the trailer even came out.

But now it’s here, and we need to discuss every single solitary detail. I’m not kidding, I really though we theater kids football fans, would have to wait until the end of the game, but we got it before 7 pm.

To give a quick recap before you enter the MAGIC of Oz in the trailer. The movie musical adaptation stars Ariana Grande as Glinda the Good Witch, Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, Bridgerton breakout star Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, the witches’ love interest, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, the headmistress of Crage Hall at Shiz University; Broadway veteran/professional sponge Ethan Slater as Boq, the romantic interest of Elphaba’s younger sister, Nessa, played by newcomer Marissa Bode, Saturday Night Live star Bowen Yang and Lockwood & Co. actor Bronwyn James play Pfannee and ShenShen, respectively, Elphaba and Glinda’s classmates. and Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard (for the record, we would’ve been happy with anyone who isn’t J*mes C*rden).

Watch the Wicked trailer below:

The trailer opens with the gut-wrenchingly beautiful chords of “Defying Gravity.” Immediate chills. We get a first look at Ariana as Glinda and her bleached eyebrows look significantly better in this setting! Then Cynthia, perfect and green as can be.

Also, Oz looks fucking insane. They went above and beyond on the green screens here.

When Does Wicked Hit Theaters?

The movie hits theaters on November 27, 2024, which is the day before Thanksgiving. I would suggest forgoing your normal Thanksgiving Eve festivities and, instead, paint yourself green and go to the movies. Why would you waste your time making small talk with your ex from high school when you could sing-cry along to “For Good” on opening night? Think about it.
