‘The Ultimatum: Queer Love’ Season 2: Who is Still Together After That Shitshow?

Season 2 of The Ultimatum: Queer Love delivered everything we wanted: sapphic drama, confusing emotional boundaries, moody lighting, moaning soundbites, and at least three people crying while wearing cargo pants. It also featured a better success rate than season 1 of The Ultimatum: Queer Love. With ultimatums flying and trial marriages doing what they do best (i.e., imploding), we’re breaking down who made it out alive, who got engaged, and who’s still passive-aggressively subtweeting each other post-reunion.

Let’s check in on our favorite chaotic queers.

Which The Ultimatum: Queer Love season 2 couples are still together?

Kyle and Bridget

Kyle gave Bridget the ultimatum, and we’ll be real — we weren’t sure these androgynous cuties were gonna make it. Great hair? Check. Stunning smiles? Obviously. Communication skills? Debatable.

Bridget essentially hand-picked Pilar for Kyle (bold move) and watched that backfire when the two shared a steamy club kiss. Pilar later called Kyle out for her lack of emotional transparency (Kyle was shockingly receptive). Also, shoutout to Kyle’s parents, the unexpected MVPs of the season. Can they adopt me?

Meanwhile, Bridget’s trial marriage with Ashley was more “couch buds” than soulmates. Bridget even kinda convinced Ashley not to get married—oops.

Back together, Bridget was (understandably) salty about the kiss. But the pair pushed through and had some real convos. Kyle’s parents gave strong “get a real job and buy a house before you get married” energy, which the artsy duo totally ignored. And they got engaged anyway! They were still going strong at the reunion, bohemian dreams and all.

Pilar and Haley

Our longest-running couple by a lot — Pilar and Haley were ten years deep when they came on the show. That’s ten times longer than Magan and Dayna’s relationship, but we’ll get to those two later.

Haley gave Pilar the ultimatum after a decade of waiting. Pilar, who had only come out to her parents two years prior and was estranged from them, wasn’t sure she was ready to take the next step without family reconciliation.

We discussed Pilar’s time with Kyle, so now for Haley’s trial marriage with Magan — oof. So Hailey and Magan had a whirlwind romance in three weeks, with the pair doing ALL THE STUFF and even saying they loved each other.

Haley had a moment with Magan during the trial marriage, like “we said ‘I love you’ after three weeks” energy. But when things went back to normal, the original pairings unravelled. Pilar was hurt (fair), and Magan ghosted Haley (rude). This hit especially hard as Pilar had expressed that her biggest fear was losing Haley when she was ready for marriage. Haley doubled down on Pilar, proposed, and now they’re engaged and thriving. At the reunion, they were a certified power couple and said they’re “stronger than ever.”

AJ and Britney

We were ready to write these two off early. AJ gave big-time f*ckboi energy in the initial dating phase, but — surprise! — she pulled it together.

AJ’s trial marriage with Marie stayed platonic, partly because she was sneaking off to see Britney during week one (classic). This majorly hurt her trial wife, but Marie eventually forgave her at the reunion, which was sweet.

Britney got matched with Marita (who had wanted to be with AJ… awkward). But honestly, the Marita–Britney pairing was a shining example of platonic love on this show. They had each other’s backs without weird sexual tension — revolutionary! We love to see two femmes supporting each other and getting ready together.

Britney and AJ reunited and had some deep convos about love, future goals, and yes, AJ’s desire for a 1950s housewife (ma’am??). Still, the vibes were immaculate. AJ proposed, Britney looked flawless, and they’re still together, navigating the emotional minefield of being friends with a cast of exes. Lesbian culture!

Marita and Ashley

And now for Britney’s sweet trial wife! Ashley gave Marita the ultimatum, and Marita said her main hang-up was the lack of romance and effort in the relationship. Like many people, I initially misconstrued Marita’s words to mean she still wanted to play the field and have these huge romantic gestures. Then I saw her almost tear up at Ashley getting her a FORK for her SALAD, and I realized how wrong I was. Marita wanted the bare minimum. She wanted flowers, a home-cooked meal, and just some validation. She wasn’t asking for the Princess Treatment.

Look, I’m not trying to blame Ashley, as she clearly has very different love languages, but she also didn’t want to compromise on this matter at the end of the day. It’s a case of “if she wanted to, she would.” She didn’t want to, and that’s fine.

During a particularly rough convo (while playing pool, of course), things came to a head. Ashley couldn’t give her what she needed, and Marita’s language got emotionally loaded.

At the engagement moment, they confirmed they loved each other, but ultimately, Ashley chose to walk away for both of them. It was heartbreaking, but 100% the right call. Post-show, the relationship apparently dragged on, involved mutual cheating and personal grief, and ended with a bitter reunion scene. Marita looked done. Ashley looked done. And we were emotionally done.

Mel and Marie

Now we enter the chaos couple’s territory of The Ultimatum: Queer Love season 2. Mel and Marie had us all screaming into the void.

Mel’s energy from the jump wasominous. (Every queer has dated a smirking lip-biter and regretted it.) She paired up with Dayna and immediately started stirring the pot — emotionally, physically, and with the help of a Spotify sex playlist. The two went so fast, and suddenly Mel was debating marriage and kids…with Dayna? Idk, bestie.

Marie was paired with AJ and spent the trial moping while Mel was out getting matching tattoos with Dayna. Marie had no idea what went down, because Mel claimed nothing happened. (Lies, allegedly.) We’d like to formally thank producers for that soundbite of their moaning

Despite all this, Mel proposed to Marie, and they got engaged, only to break up a few months later. At the reunion, Marie was visibly hurt, while Mel smirked through accusations like she was auditioning for a reboot of The L Word. Mel later joked on Instagram, “Maybe next time I’ll try therapy or BDSM — whichever is more painful.” Girl. What??

Magan and Dayna

And finally, our season shocker. Magan and Dayna — AKA the couple no one thought would survive.

Dayna wanted a ring. Magan, dealing with family issues around her queerness, wasn’t ready. Cue trial marriages: Dayna and Mel were sweaty, while Magan and Haley had surprisingly deep heart-to-hearts.

Magan and Dayna reunited in a cloud of yelling, at the swap table, in the car, and in the apartment. At one point, Dayna literally called her mom to come get her. But somehow, somehow, they worked it out.

Magan cut ties with Haley at Dayna’s request. Dayna told Mel to stay out of her life. And then — bam — Magan proposed. Not only did Dayna accept, but she then proposed back! Only she didn’t get down on one knee because of her gorgeous red dress.

At the reunion? Still engaged. Still serving high-horse energy. And refusing to reveal what really happened between Dayna and Mel. “That’s between me, Mel, and whoever we share our personal lives with,” Dayna said cryptically. Oh, and they’re now besties with AJ and Britney. Plot twist!

Idk who needs more therapy after this season: the cast or viewers.
