Strap On: Let’s Break Down ‘The Ultimatum: Queer Love’ Season 2 Cast

Ah yes, summer is almost here, and with it comes the return of chaotic queer tears, throuples-in-the-making, and more emotional whiplash than a group chat post-Pride. Netflix’s The Ultimatum: Queer Love is back for Season 2, and if you thought Season 1 was messy well, buckle your (harness) straps. As one contestant so succinctly puts it in the trailer: “Lesbians are brutal.” Let’s meet the cast putting their love — and sanity — on the line. Meet the cast of Season 2 of The Ultimatum: Queer Love.

How Does The Ultimatum: Queer Love Work Again?

In The Ultimatum, one partner wants marriage, and the other isn’t quite sure. The couples split up to date other participants, then choose someone new for a three-week trial marriage. After that, they reunite with their original partners for another three weeks. In the end, each must decide: marry their original partner, stay with their trial match, or walk away solo.

Now, make it gay and chaotic. Since anyone can date anyone, emotional entanglements reach astrology meme levels. It’s not uncommon for couples to completely swap partners like it’s sapphic musical chairs.

Meet The Cast Of The Ultimatum: Queer Love

Ashley, 30 (she/her), issued the ultimatum to Marita, 25 (she/her)

So these two lovebirds found each other on a dating app (hope for us all) and stood out because they both had “the ability to keep a great conversation going.” The bar is low, but also not.

Marita’s flirty nature has led Ashley to issue the ultimatum. “I am getting tired of her inconsistency in our relationship, along with the fact that she never chooses me and seeks feelings elsewhere with other people,” Ashley says. “I want her to pick me and know I am enough.”

In her defense, Marita is only 25 — arguably still in her non-marriage era. Her take: “I am not ready to settle for anything less than what I know I deserve.” She feels their natural chemistry and deep convos aren’t enough, and she’s craving more romance.

Britney, 27 (she/her), issued the ultimatum to AJ, 28 (she/her)

Five years in, Britney is ready for a ring. “I issued AJ an ultimatum because after years of loving and building [a life] with her, I am ready for the next chapter,” she says. “I want clarity on where we are going and if she sees forever the same way I do.”

AJ’s hesitation? She doesn’t want to always come second to Britney’s ambitious career. “It’s not about love. It’s about whether we’re truly ready to prioritize the same future,” she says.

They met on the dance floor, where Britney had to clarify she was into women (lol, I can relate). Music is still a big part of their bond — they kinda seem like they’d hate whatever you put on the aux, but they’d hate it together.

Dayna, 25 (she/her), issued the ultimatum to Magan, 27 (she/her)

This couple has been together for a year and a halfwhy are they here?!?! Is it even marriage time — let alone marriage ultimatum time? Then again, we’re talking sapphic years, so this is basically 2.5 in hetero currency.

Dayna is a Relationship Manager (possibly code for stay-at-home girlfriend — if so, iconic). Magan is a Business Managerso, the non-stay-at-home girlfriend. She also likes to “untangle” things, so please come sort out my jewelry pile.

Despite her avoidant attachment style, Dayna was the one to issue the ultimatum. “I’m ready to be more serious and plan a future with Magan,” she says. Meanwhile, Magan has an anxious attachment style, which I can confirm from personal experience is SUCH A GREAT MATCH.

Magan believes she’s receiving the ultimatum because of her own issues with “boundaries.” Her traditional family has been slow to accept her queerness, making it hard to envision a future where all her loved ones coexist. Marriage could show her family Dayna is here to stay — but she just doesn’t feel ready to take that step.

Well, as one contestant puts it in the trailer… “Daynas are trouble.”

Haley, 29 (she/her), issued the ultimatum to Pilar, 29 (she/her)

Mark my words: Haley is going to be the Vanessa of this season — misunderstood, chaotic, and the drama catalyst. Exhibit A? Her first queer crush was the five Muses from Hercules.

Haley is a Senior Food Scientist (whatever that means), and Pilar is a Physical Therapist (oh, that thing I should probably go to). In her free time, Haley enjoys chocolatieringis that code for binging M&M’s? Because same.

In true WLW style, they’ve never slept apart since they got together — ten years ago. Yes, ten years. This is a couple that’s earned their spot here.

Haley wants marriage because she’s done her waiting. “We have always been firmly planted next to one another, and I want an even deeper commitment.”

But Pilar only came out to her family two years ago — eight years into their relationship — and neither of her parents is currently speaking to her. She dreams of having her father at her wedding but knows that won’t happen right now. She hopes time will change things. Totally fair — she’s not anti-marriage, just anti-wedding-right-now. Haley, though, may see that as just another delay.

According to the trailer, Pilar’s going to feel real hurt by Haley’s connection with someone else.

Kyle, 30 (she/they), issued the ultimatum to Bridget, 28 (she/they)

Together for two and a half years — and yes, at this stage, the “half” still counts. This couple stands out as one of the first on the show without a high-femme, plus we’re getting some more they/them hotties!!! We love to see it.

Kyle wants marriage, period. “As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized getting married is an important step for me. I want to know [Bridget] is committed to building a life and future together.”

Now for Bridget. Their first queer crush? “Zack and Cody from The Suite Life of Zack & Cody. I can’t really explain it, but if you had a crush on them as a kid, you’re probably gay now.” Both of them?! Wild.

Bridget doesn’t really see the point of marriage: “I don’t really understand the point.” They still see a forever with Kyle — just maybe without rings and legal paperwork. We’ll see if eight weeks of reality TV can change their mind.

Marie, 27 (she/her), issued the ultimatum to Mel, 27 (she/her)

Mel and Marie have been together for four years, and apparently, an upgraded Facebook relationship status is in order. They met through a mutual friend as teens and now run a food truck together, but Marie wants more.

“I want to know where I’m going in life,” she says. In issuing this ultimatum, she’s simply looking for “direction,” and nothing would make this homebody happier than if it pointed toward many more nights with Mel on the couch.

Mel isn’t quite there yet. She’s still thinking about the food truck — and maybe logistics. “Marie is ready for forever, but I feel there are a few things we need to get in order first.”

And something tells me Marie is not going to love seeing Mel with someone elseruh roh.

Who Hosts The Ultimatum: Queer Love?

Non-queer queer icon, JoAnna Garcia Swisher, will return as the host for The Ultimatum: Queer Love. Honestly, give this woman the straight version, too. She’s earned it.

When Does The Ultimatum: Queer Love Season 2 Premiere?

Just like Season 1, Season 2 drops in two parts: the first half premieres June 25 on Netflix, with the second half following on July 2. Double the drama, double the group chat screenshots. Then we can likely expect a dramatic reunion!
