Tell Me Lies Season 2 Finale Recap

How Did Drew Die In Tell Me Lies?

My heart will never recover from this part of the episode. Throughout the season, Wrigley’s been agonizing over his strained relationship with his little brother, and in season 2 episode 7, he fully breaks down and admits to Pippa that he’s been suffering from depression because of the falling out. In the finale, Pippa tries to help Wrigley by arranging for Drew to come visit him so they can work out their issues. The visit is a success at first — Wrigley tells Drew he loves him and that this is the saddest he’s ever been in his life, and Drew accepts his brother’s apology. They end up going out to a bar and have a great time laughing and drinking together. Wrigley takes a painkiller for his knee and offers one to Drew, who says he’ll take half.

The next morning, Wrigley wakes up on the couch next to his brother and realizes Drew is dead. Later in the episode, Wrigley explains to his friends that Drew had a few halves of the painkillers. “They were time-release, and I guess you can’t do that with a time-release pill,” he says through tears. “I guess that can kill you. They’ll know for sure when they do the autopsy.” He of course blames Drew’s death on himself. I genuinely don’t think I’ve ever felt sadder for a fictional character in my life.

Why Did Leo Beat Up Stephen In Tell Me Lies?

Literally right after Lucy hooks up with Stephen against her better judgement (an understatement), she runs to Leo’s door and begs him to take her back. He does! But then, they wind up running into Stephen at a party, and Stephen tells Leo that he fucked Lucy that morning. Leo doesn’t believe him at first, but then Stephen describes Lucy’s bra and underwear and asks, “How’d my cum taste?”

Leo, who we already know has anger issues, loses his shit and beats up Stephen to the point where his face is unrecognizable. But Stephen smiles after it happens because he knows he just won Lucy back.

How Did Diana And Stephen Break Up In Tell Me Lies?

As I think many of us predicted, Diana’s a little mastermind and she’s been orchestrating this breakup for quite a while now. Clearly, she was bothered by what Lucy told her about Stephen’s involvement in Lucy’s death, but instead of breaking up with him right away, she gives him a bunch of reasons to break up with her. Diana knows that Stephen’s attracted to her brains, ambition, money, and connections, so she tells him that she bombed the LSAT and is feeling lost and stressed out. She also tells him that her father isn’t pleased with her, so he cut off her credit card. And it works like a charm! Stephen packs his bags and says he just isn’t feeling it anymore (after he fucked Lucy earlier).

Naturally, this low point was all bullshit! In the finale, we find out that Diana actually got a “phenomenal LSAT score” and has a “perfect shot at Yale early admission” even though she told Stephen she was putting off law school. She calls the bank to take the hold off her card and happily greets her father when he arrives to pick her up. When he asks how Stephen took the breakup, Diana responds, “He’ll be alright. You know Stephen. I had to make him think it was his idea.” She’s growing on me, TBH.

The Tell Me Lies Bree, Oliver, And Marianne Drama, Explained

After Marianne finds Bree’s earrings and wears them to Bree’s class like a fucking pyscho, Bree freaks out and reveals to Oliver that she wanted to give Marianne a reason to leave him. Oliver insists that he’s not leaving his wife and coldly breaks up with Bree ~for her own good~. But of course, Bree’s not done with him yet. She says she wants to talk to him one last time and ends up fucking him in the bed he shares with Marianne. When Oliver goes to take a shower, Marianne comes home and finds Bree half naked in her bedroom. The professor does not seem surprised at all, and she leaves Oliver and Bree to have a talk.

It turns out Oliver wasn’t keeping Bree a secret from Marianne at all… he was just pretending to sneak around with the 19-year-old because he thought that was part of the “fantasy” for her. (I’ve never cringed so hard in my life.) Oliver admits to Bree that he’s actually in an open marriage, and Marianne has always known all about their relationship. Mind you — open marriage or not, he is a professor and she is a 19-year-old student. But this insane fact doesn’t seem to bother Oliver or Marianne at all! When Bree’s on her way out, Marianne tells her she’ll get over it in time. How profound.

What Happened At Bree’s Wedding In Tell Me Lies?

Uh, what didn’t happen at Bree’s wedding? Lucy and Stephen are back to their unhinged antics, despite the fact that they’re both in supposedly serious relationships with other people. (Lucy’s with Max and Stephen’s with Lydia.) Late at night, Lucy lures Stephen down to the pool, so he can watch her and Max fuck. When Max gets out, he sees texts from Stephen, figures out what happened, and asks Lucy what the fuck is wrong with her (a valid question). All she can come up with is: “I don’t know.” I-

Unfortunately, she fucks Stephen after that. Yup, she’s still fucking Stephen in 2015. But it gets worse! Right before the wedding is about to happen, Bree gets an audio message from Stephen, and it’s the recording of him getting Evan’s confession about cheating on Bree with Lucy. Diabolical timing with that one, as expected! That’s how the episode ends, so we don’t know how Bree reacts or if she even ends up going through with the marriage.
