Are Threesomes The Answer To A Love Triangle? Lucas Bravo Thinks 'Emily In Paris' Should End In A MMF

Lucas Bravo, aka the swoon-worthy chef Gabriel from Emily in Paris, is bringing some spicy French flair to the tired trope of love triangles. You know the drill: two hot people are head over heels for the same oblivious main character, and we’re all supposed to pick sides like it’s a sport. Think Damon, Elena, and Stefan in The Vampire Diaries, or Jane, Rafael, and Michael in Jane The Virgin. But instead of the main character eventually choosing her fave lover, Lucas has a different idea, and honestly, it might be the plot twist for Emily in Paris we never knew we needed.

In an interview with Extra on August 15, Bravo spilled the tea on how he thinks the tangled web of Emily, Gabriel, and Alfie should wrap up. His suggestion? “From what I gathered, it should end up in a threesome,” Lucas said, before quickly adding, “A throuple. Sorry! Poor choice of words. Or maybe not.”

Yes, you read that right. Lucas just casually suggested that Emily in Paris could (and should?) end with all three characters living their best life as a throuple. And while this might sound like an unexpected direction, it’s got me thinking: maybe love triangles should always work out in your favor if you’re the main character. And by your favor, I do mean getting fucked in a MMF threesome by the two loves of your life.

For those who haven’t caught up (no spoilers here, I promise!), Emily in Paris is the Netflix show that’s equal parts cringe and captivating, following Emily Cooper, a marketing exec from Chicago, who suddenly finds herself navigating love and work in the City of Lights. Along the way, Emily gets entangled in a love triangle with her dreamy neighbor Gabriel (who already has a girlfriend BTW) and her British beau Alfie, and let’s just say, it’s complicated.

Season 4 dropped on August 15, but don’t worry if you haven’t binged it yet — this article is spoiler-free, mostly because I haven’t had the chance to catch up either. But Lucas’ cheeky throuple suggestion got me thinking: maybe we’ve been looking at love triangles all wrong.

When you’re the main character, the world revolves around you, right? So why should you have to choose between two amazing love interests when you can just, you know, have them both? At the same time? If we’re going to be honest, love triangles are only fun when you’re the one being pursued, not the one doing the pining.

In real life, love triangles are messy, stressful, and usually end in heartbreak for someone involved. And we even know that even when it’s just sex, threesomes aren’t always great. But when you’re the main character, you’re in the driver’s seat. Why not turn the drama into something a little more… collaborative? Lucas’ suggestion to wrap up the love triangle with a throuple is kind of genius. It’s the ultimate win-win-win scenario: everyone’s happy, and no one has to leave Paris heartbroken. Plus, we get to watch what would be an iconic sex scene.

Okay, maybe threesomes aren’t the literal answer to every love triangle, but the idea of flipping the script on this tired trope is definitely intriguing. Instead of making a choice, why not explore the possibility that maybe, just maybe, everyone can get what they want?

In the context of the show, a throuple would be a bold move, especially because I can’t see Alfie or Gabriel wanting to share Emily. But we’ve already seen four seasons of this woman somehow getting everything she wants so easily, so would it really be that much of a reach? Plus, it’s not like this would be the first time something like this happened in a show — I mean remember when Betty, Veronica, Jughead, and Archie just decided to become a quad in Riverdale? Sure, it was absolutely awful writing and made no sense at all… but it happened, right? And it’s a reminder that when it comes to love, the best outcomes are the ones where everyone’s needs are met — even if it takes thinking outside the box (or inside the bedroom).

So if you happen to find yourself in an Emily in Paris-esque love triangle and you’re feeling bold, maybe take a page out of Lucas’ book and suggest a solution that makes everyone happy. Or not, because in real life that idea just might crash and burn. But it’s fun to think about, right?
