In a January 16 TikTok reaction to that breakup post, creator Gabby White asked the hard-hitting questions we all had that day. (Thank you for your service, queen.) She wondered why Matt would use a photo from The Bachelor and added that “the tone of the caption was giving ransom” and “threat.” I don’t disagree. Gabby pointed out that “they were posting in London together like 12 hours ago,” so the timing of the split announcement made no sense.
In the comments section, Rachael’s sister, Trinity, confirmed: “Yea so they were still together when he was posting all that… just to give you some perspective on the timeline of things.” Soo, yeah, the breakup somehow happened between the pizza posts and the prayer. In another comment, Trinity revealed that Matt posted his announcement just three hours after he and Rachael split. And it sounds like he didn’t get her any warning.

Trinity’s helpful clarifications came after Rachael liked an IG comment speculating that she was “blindsided” by the breakup post. The comment was left on her December 5, 2024 birthday tribute post for Matt and reads: “The more I’m thinking about it, the more I think he completely blindsided her with this. Give her some grace and let her respond in her own time.” Rachael hasn’t shared her own statement about the breakup yet, but I’m sure that’s coming soon.
