Everyone in the Zillennial and younger Millennial communities spent a large portion of their childhood watching Drake & Josh. The duo played stepbrothers on the show, and we all liked to assume that they were besties in real life. Was that the case? Unfortunately, not exactly. In 2022, Josh said on the BFFs podcast that there were times when he and Drake were “closer than not” while filming, but ultimately, they just don’t have a lot in common. “When inevitably the show ended… I mean, we’re just totally different kids,” he said on the podcast. He didn’t even invite Drake to his wedding in 2017 — which really pissed Drake off.

A few months after Josh’s wedding, it seemed like they had made peace after they were spotted hugging it out at the VMAs. Now, there’s new drama. Fans have a lot of questions for Josh after he stayed silent about the new Nickelodeon documentary, Quiet on Set, which features Drake and his story of being abused. So, where do Drake and Josh stand now? Let’s unpack this complex relationship and recent tension.

Drake Appears In A New Documentary Quiet On Set That Details Toxic Culture At Nickelodeon In The 2000s

Quiet on Set explores the blatant sexism and sexual harassment that was happening in Nickelodeon workspaces as well as the many jokes on children’s shows that were undeniably adult entertainment-esque. One of the most shocking and disturbing revelations of the docuseries is that Drake was the anonymous teen victim who reported being molested by Amanda Show dialogue coach Brian Peck. The actor was 15 at the time.

Josh Hasn’t Publicly Commented On The Documentary

Josh notably doesn’t appear in the documentary. The Drake & Josh star started receiving criticism after not making a statement about Quiet on Set and posting a very unserious TikTok video earlier this week. In the clip, he lip-syncs the viral sound, “If I haven’t talked to you since 2023, take that as a fucking sign that you don’t exist to me anymore.” Maybe not the best timing for that one. Social media users have demanded to know his thoughts on the doc and whether or not he supports Drake.

Drake Updated Fans On Where He Stands With Josh

Drake was quick to set the record straight on TikTok. “I just want to clear something up,” he said in a video. “I’ve noticed a lot of comments on some of Josh’s TikToks and some of his posts, and I just want to let you guys know that processing this and going through this is a really emotional time, and a lot of it’s very, very difficult. So not everything is put out to the public.”

He added, “I just want you guys to know that he has reached out to me, and it’s been very sensitive. He has reached out to talk with me and help me work through this, and has been really, really great.” Drake and Josh may not be besties, but it sounds like these two still have respect for each other.
