If you thought the internet couldn’t get any more chaotic, think again. The latest Instagram challenge sweeping the platform is serving a fresh dose of reality, with a side of existential crisis. Enter: the “Ask ChatGPT to Roast Your Feed” challenge — a trend that’s part roast, part therapy session, and 100% guaranteed to make you question your entire social media strategy.
So, what’s the deal? Basically, over 300,000 brave souls have decided that their Instagram feeds needed a little more… brutal honesty. The challenge, which has gone viral via an Instagram story template (because we love a good bandwagon), involves asking the ChatGPT AI chatbot to roast your feed in one succinct paragraph. Sounds harmless, right? Think again.

Because I’m a journalist, I decided to also partake in the challenge with my personal account. And what I discovered may or may not have been my 13th reason why. Girlie, prepare yourself.
How Do I Ask ChatGPT To Roast My Instagram?
To participate, you don’t just need the courage to face your AI-judged fate — you also need the ChatGPT app. You can’t do this on desktop. It’s mobile app only, baby, which somehow makes it feel even more personal (or maybe that’s just me). Plus, you’ll need a ChatGPT account to get in on the action.
After downloading the app and creating an account, you send ChatGPT screenshots of your Instagram profile with the prompt: “Roast my Instagram feed in one paragraph.” And then? Prepare yourself for some top-tier shade.
I won’t lie, my feelings were a little hurt. ChatGPT came through with this gem: “Your Instagram feed is like a chaotic mashup of National Geographic meets Cosmo in a tropical nightclub — one minute you’re dropping serious articles like a seasoned journalist, and the next, you’re flexing in bikinis like it’s spring break 24/7. The inconsistency is real, and it’s hard to tell if you’re trying to save the world or just make everyone jealous of your vacays. But hey, if chaos is your brand, then you’re absolutely nailing it.”

Instead Of An AI Roast Of My Instagram, I Tried To Get It To Fall In Love With Me
But because I am me and I refuse to let artificial intelligence roast me of course I had to flip the switch a little. After taking part in the challenge, I asked Chat GPT to tell me why someone would fall in love with me. I know, my Leo rising is screaming. But hey, you all can continue getting roasted while I get showered in compliments.
However you decide to participate, it’s worth noting that while Meta has been trying (and struggling) to get users to adopt its own generative AI tools, ChatGPT is out here just living its best life, dragging people’s Instagram feeds with no mercy.
