If you thought Vanderpump Villa was chaotic, wait until you dive into the Mormon Wives Cinematic Universe™. At the center of the latest spiral is Demi and Bret — an age-gap couple with reality TV roots, MomTok fame, and now, plenty of drama. Yep, this is the latest scandal to rock The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, but it won’t be the last one. Does this count as another swinging scandal since both individuals are accused of stepping outside their marriage?

From sketchy rumors to awkward audio captures, here’s a full breakdown of what’s going on in their not-so-blissful marriage. AKA Did Bret cheat on Demi? Did Demi cheat with Marciano?!

Demi And Bret Relationship Timeline

Demi (30) has been married to Bret (46) since 2021 after dating for just a year. Kinda awkies… since she first met him as a child through a family friend. In her own words, she once had an “innocent little girl crush” on the man she would eventually marry. Yikes? Sweet? TBD.

And just when you thought it couldn’t get messier, Bret was previously married to Real Housewives of Salt Lake City alum Angie Harrington. Yep. The same RHOSLC where chaos is queen. Bret and Angie share sons Cole (16) and Rome (19), who were the best men at his 2021 wedding to Demi. (Therapy, anyone?)

Bret also apparently had a second, lesser-known marriage that lasted just “five or six months,” per a TikTok Demi posted in February 2023. Man’s got a track record.

As for Demi, she was previously married to Blake Corbin and they share a 7-year-old daughter, Maude.

First It Was Demi

Early in Vanderpump Villa, it was Demi who was accused of stepping out — rumors swirled that she had a brief fling with cast mate Marciano Brunette. She denied any infidelity and later accused Marciano of sexual assault.

“Nothing happened with Marciano,” she told Us Weekly on May 6. “At the expense of sounding rude, there wasn’t even a remote attraction to him. It sucks that women can’t be kind and friendly and even playful with men in this world without it being taken as like you’re open.”

Days later, she told People that her marriage was fine. “I have a good relationship with my husband. We communicate well. I know the truth.”

Marciano, for his part, popped back up on Mormon Wives to clarify his rumored situationship was actually with Jessi Ngatikaura. Plot twist.

Then It Was Bret

Just when we were starting to exhale, boom… the blind item. Mayci Neeley dropped the tea on Mormon Wives, saying she received an anonymous tip on IG that Bret was actually the one who cheated, allegedly while Demi was out of town. The claim was discussed on the show, and things got tense. 

“The truth always reveals itself. Until there is proof, I don’t give it any credit or any weight. I don’t understand why something that is not true would bother you so deeply,” Demi told Bret.

His response? “I need to worry less about optics.” Which is…not convincing?

Then came the real moment: the cameras stopped rolling, but the mics didn’t. Classic reality TV gold.

“Are we on the same page here? You have to know deep in your core that I would never do that to you,” Bret said. “It bothers me. I want to find out who it was. I want to know who said it because I want to go after them. It pisses me off. You know I didn’t do that.”

But Demi wasn’t buying the dramatic monologue: “I don’t know what it is with you. Why do we keep talking about it? The way you are reacting is a little bit confusing. If I am guilty, this is how I am acting.”

Layla Taylor popped on The Viall Files and got straight to the point: “No [they won’t last]. I think this world, unfortunately — with the way that she’s operating with the [drama] — this might break them,” she said on the May 20 episode.

Still, she doesn’t think Bret cheated. “Bret is so obsessed with Demi in every way that she could commit murder, and he’d be like, ‘She didn’t do it.’”

As for the Marciano rumors? “We can give [Bret] all of the facts of what happened in the Villa, and at that point, it’s his choice and his decision how he wants to react to it.”

Mikayla Matthews

Mikayla Matthews, ever the PR-aware queen, kept it diplomatic on the podcast:

“It’s hard to see or say because I feel like I don’t know how deep their relationship lies. On social media, you would think it’s perfect. But as we know from many other couples, social media is not a reflection of how your relationship really is. I would give it a maybe. I would say yes. I’ll say yes for now.”

In another interview, she elaborated: “They’re never apart. So for me, it didn’t make sense. But at this point, nothing shocks me. What’s another scandal?”

Jen Affleck

And then there’s Jen Affleck, who came in hot with receipts, vibes, and her own set of accusations. Jen claimed that Demi was emotionally manipulative behind the scenes and used her relationship with Bret as a branding tool.

She alleged that Demi would weaponize her “perfect marriage” image to ice people out and control narratives on and off-camera. Jen also hinted that Demi had a pattern of pushing women out of the friend group if they got too much attention, especially from Bret.

Then Jen claimed she had a cease and desist order stopping her from further speaking out…what?!
