The season 11 finale of Vanderpump Rules (low-key the series finale, if you ask me) had us both pressed and stressed last night. Many of the cast had been hiding unpopular opinions that finally found their way to the light. Scheana admitted she wants to be friends with Tom as long as he “stays on this path” of growth AKA growing Scheana and Brock’s bank account. Katie revealed she doesn’t care about Spooky Jo’s feelings — oh wait, no, she actually has been trying to explain to Tom all summer why she doesn’t need to make nice with her ex-husband’s new ex-girlfriend who once tried to console her with Justin Bieber. And of course, most explosively, Lala made it known Ariana is not Beyoncé, nor God, but merely a girl that got broken up with, just like the rest of ’em. With brazen true colors on full display louder than Scheana and Brock’s matching gold outfits, Sandoval let a little something slip when he forgot the cameras were rolling which closed the season out on a bone-chilling note. Naturally, he’s already trying to explain it all away. Here’s a dramatic breakdown of Tom Sandoval’s VPR finale hot mic moment for the hard-hitting journalist in all of us.
Thanks to Lala we now know for sure that Tom Sandoval is not a murderer (it seemed like a given, but still nice to hear nonetheless), but things still got real Robert Durst coded in the final moments of the season finale. As the cameras started to go down while grabbing a few final shots of the San Francisco sky, Schwartz and Sandoval were talking to a producer who wistfully says, “That was the end.”
Schwartz, thinking the coast was clear, then adds “That was a plot twist” i.e. it was surprising that Ariana left early, which led to a Sandoval rage spiral that the girls picked up thier pitchforks to join in on.
Sandoval, never one to not get the last word, chimes in with “I love it. It’s good for me,” followed by some very unsettling maniacal laughter. This left fans first and foremost very creeped out, but also wondering WTF did that mean?! Because it seems like he was overjoyed Ariana looked bad to the rest of the group by leaving and that the finale would paint him as the hero for trying to talk to her, instead of a borderline stalker with a strange preoccupation with touching her new boyfriend’s hand. Well don’t worry pals, Tom Sandoval has a totally logical explanation.

On last night’s cursed Watch What Happens Live featuring the gruesome twosome of Sandoval and Jax (come on Andy, we can only take so much), Andy asked Tom what the hot mic statement meant because it didn’t look good. Tom immediately backpedaled with the following word salad: “What I meant was, is that I did my job and everything came together. That’s what I meant. Like that throughout the season we have to obviously have those tough conversations and I felt good that I at least showed up and did my job.” Sooooo basically exactly what we thought? Tom made it his job all season to attempt to get Ariana on the outs with the group and he felt in that moment he finally succeeded. If it wasn’t obvious before that any attempts Tom made at burying the hatchet with Ariana were completely fake, there you have it.
