I’m not going to lie, I think we may have taken the whole notion of “romanticizing your life” just a little too seriously lately. From blueberry milk nails to glazed donut skin, we’re essentially just taking normal beauty trends and slapping some sort of food/beverage in front of it and calling it a glow-up. It makes me feel like we’re all just walking around hangry all the time. What’s next? Probably “cold brew brows” and “everything but the bagel breath.” Either way, there’s at least one trend worth investigating based on how many celebs seem to be dipping their makeup brushes into it: latte makeup.
Alix Earle (above), Hailey Bieber, Kendall Jenner, and Shay Mitchell are just a few of the most recent celebs to take part in the trend. But, let’s be real, it’s just bronze makeup rebranded—which means even those who suck at doing makeup can join in on the GRWMs. There aren’t any harsh lines, no perfect eyeliner to adhere to, just a little boldness in the amount of smokiness you’re willing to add to your shadow routine. So, without further ado, let’s dive into the chokehold that caffeine has on this generation with how to achieve the perfect latte look.
Get To the (Not-So-Perfect) Point
Grab a blendable, brown eyeliner that you feel comfy using, and smudge it all over your upper lash line. For my type-A girlies, I know this is giving you a panic attack but don’t worry, it’s not going to stay like that forever. Take a trusty smudge brush like this one and smooth the liner out over the eyelid below your crease. This will be the base for your eye shadow. If you’re feeling ~edgy~, smudge some of the liner on your lower lash line, too.
Time To Get Shady
Dust off the old eye shadow palettes and find a warm-toned brown shade that complements your skin. You’re going to apply this all over your lid and blend it out above your crease. Protip: drag some of the blending you’re doing past your eye and up toward your temple for more of that fox-eye look. Dip your brush lightly and drag some of the color under your bottom lash line too. Finally, if you want to go the extra mile (and we know you do) add a bronze shimmer on the center of your lid for a little extra pop. Here are a few of my fave options:
You’re Making Me Blush Bronze
Nothing makes you feel like you’ve taken a one-way trip to the early 2000s than a makeup look sans blush, right? But, alas here we are and I will be damned if I go outside my house without some sort of blush on. The hack? For this look, just pick a bronzier blush that can essentially be a stand-in for both products. Swipe the color from you cheeks to your temples for *chefs kiss* latte look.
The Perfect Latte Lip Doesn’t Exi—
Okay, so the lip may or may not be my favorite part because it gave me a reason to test out like 1,000 different lip combos. If you’re feeling bold, try a nude-ish liner with a clear gloss. Or, if you want all-over color, a nude gloss will have you covered.
IDK about you, but with all of this latte talk I think it’s time to go to Starbucks. Plus, your makeup will fully be matching your beverage and that feels like a win in my book.
