Well, it’s *officially* over. Jennifer Lopez has filed for divorce from Ben Affleck after just two years of marriage, TMZ reports. The outlet broke the news on Tuesday, August 20. Can you believe it? Literally no one saw this coming. (Please tell me you can read sarcasm.)
She filed the docs on Tuesday in Los Angeles County Superior court, without an attorney present. Girlie did this shit solo. The date also happens to be the two-year anniversary of their big Georgia wedding (you know, the one they had after eloping in Vegas). Talk about the timing.
The date of separation is listed as April 26, 2024, which was literally months ago. According to the outlet, J. Lo does not mention in the docs if there is a prenup… but sources tell TMZ that there apparently isn’t one. GIRL, WHAT?!?!?!
She also waived spousal support and is asking the judge to deny Benny boy that support too.
Rumors have been swirling for months that these two were dunzo because they’ve spent pretty much the entire summer apart. They weren’t together for their two-year wedding anniversary in July and also Ben was MIA during J. Lo’s birthday that same month.
Neither party has publicly commented on speculation that they called it quits, but they also haven’t done much to cover it up, either. In May 2024, a source told Us Weekly that Bennifer 2.0 is “having issues in their marriage.” Give that source a raise!!!!
“They started having issues a few months ago as Jen had started ramping up work commitments and prepping for her tour.” The insider alleged J. Lo was just really focused on work and that they were on “two completely different pages most of the time.” She was also seen house hunting in Los Angeles around that time, while a second source told Us that Ben was living a in a separate home. All classic signs of a celebrity split.
That same week, a source told Entertainment Tonight that J. Lo and Ben were working through some tension. “They have been staying in separate homes and the tension has been high,” the source said. “They are taking a second to figure out what each of them is going through and wants. Both of them have been very down.”

So there you have it — Bennifer broke up… a second time. The two were madly in love in the early 2000s, called off their engagement due to the pressure of the public eye, and then found each other again 20 years later and exchanged vows. They tied the knot in July 2022 in Las Vegas after getting engaged in April that same year.
A love story for the books, right?
Guess the moral of the story is never get back together with an ex.
