I’m sure there are other things I should be thinking about like election day or global warming, but instead, I am on day seven of trying to determine where Tyler from Netflix’s Love Is Blind gets the audacity. After all the praying for a blessed union, turns out Brother Tyler was hiding quite a bit of huge news about his life from his fiancé, Ashley. Ashley, who has done nothing but act as a loving safe place for a man who thinks he can unironically pull off a backward hat, was put in a very sticky situation by said troublemaker. The whole mess started when Tyler dropped the big ol’ bomb off camera that he had a child. Actually, three children to be exact. But, according to Tyler, though the children are biologically his, he only gave him sperm to help a couple he’s friends with. Now that the reunion gave the couple the opportunity to put the full story out there, we have Tyler’s final answer. So, is Tyler a sperm donor? Here’s everything we know.
Did Tyler lie about being a sperm donor?
At the Love Is Blind reunion, Tyler quadrupled down that he was only a sperm donor. He emphasized that he helped a family who “didn’t deserve” the negative attention they received after the tea about the messy situation spilled all over the internet. Tyler also denied any cheating rumors, saying his children’s mother’s wife left them “high and dry” of her own accord. As for Bri (his children’s mother) and fans’ evidence that Tyler was actually a strong presence in their lives, Tyler countered that he spends holidays with “all of his friends,” which is pretty impressive considering DC traffic.
When Tyler first broke the news to Ashley it was completely off-camera, so we’re not 100% sure what wording he used. Ashley relayed the situation as “not [his] kids but they are [his] kids” based on Tyler’s explanation. Turns out this meant Tyler told Ashley he “helped a couple” have “sperm donor babies” and the couple is “someone that [Tyler] knows.” Ashley found it particularly jarring that Tyler withheld the fact that he had “two girls and a boy” because he had previously told Ashley how excited he was to become a father for the first time after they got married. Tyler stopped short of showing Ashley “pictures” and “documents” or “anything” proving he was “uninvolved.”

Yep, Ashley is shockingly 10 toes down for her man — to this day! Ashley quickly got defensive when she took her turn to speak after Tyler’s v rehearsed opening argument. She scolded the overcritical audience (hiii, that’s me) about how “humanity” has a “hard time” understanding “taboo, out of the norm” things… whatever that means. Speaking as a member of humanity who gave Tyler some major side-eye, I think fans had more trouble stomaching his claims his children had never seen him before when they were repeatedly pictured online. Regardless, Ashley made it known she was “aware” and said “I do” to all of Tyler because he is worth the risk. Therefore the comment section’s opinion she should get an annulment is heretofore null in void in their household. Their ~love~ gave Vanessa “all the feels” instead of begging for a shred of accountability (why can’t Andy Cohen host every reunion?!) so I guess that’s all we get. Good luck, babe!
After the big reveal, Ashley originally told Tyler she wasn’t isn’t sure if she could make it work with him, but that she was willing to try, so her wifey behavior at the reunion tracks. In episode 10, Ashley told her girls she couldn’t forget their “deep connection” despite the revelation being “crushing”. Since filming wrapped she has proven to be a woman of her word when she told People and said she has “no regrets.”

Further into the experiment, as shown in episode 9, Tyler kept up his account of the situation when Ashley requested to know “more about the dynamic”. Tyler elaborated that his “close friends” wanted to “have a baby” but they “couldn’t afford a sperm donor.” So Tyler, the generous guy that he is, stepped in to help because “God told [him] to.” What a saint! When Ashley asked if the kids knew what Tyler looked like, he said “I don’t think so.”

According to pictures, videos, and details shared, by women claiming to be the mother and grandmother of Tyler’s children, yes. Though Tyler told Ashley he wasn’t sure if his kids knew what he looked like, on October 7, 2024, Lovetta Thomas posted cozy-looking photos of Tyler posing with three kids. In one image, a child is wearing a “Dad’s No. 1 Draft Pick” shirt next to Tyler. Lovetta hashtagged “#theylovetheirdaddy,” and “#deadbeatdad” with the caption “Love is Blind Season 7… Washington DC…. Do Y’all know who this is??? Or where he is, cuz his 3 kids been looking for him!” She continued on social media claiming Tyler “threw the kids away” for Love Is Blind.
Bri Thomas shared more family moments on October 10, 2024, writing on Instagram, “My children love their ‘Dad.’ To think that he has reduced them to ‘sperm babies,’ when I was told he was going on the show to be able to better provide for them, is the most absurd and hurtful thing ever. My kids don’t deserve this.” One of the cute videos she shared in the now-deleted posts included Kyreaux calling Tyler “dad.” Bri says she has been “patient” and “considerate” with Tyler in the past but she now has “no understanding why he would characterize his relationship with his children as he has.”

Before the reunion, Tyler said he wouldn’t “really change anything” about how he handled himself on the show. Tyler graciously conceded “There’s maybe a couple conversations that could’ve been had at a certain time, who knows?” In any case, Tyler would rather “[live] in the present” than “sit back and wish that I could change something.” Tyler posted a “BTS” Love Is Blind slideshow with Ashley on October 14, 2024, so the pair appears to be on good terms.
