On a Taylor Swift album, anyone can get caught in the line of fire… and I mean anyone. On the surprise second album Taylor released with The Tortured Poets Department, she has a song called “thanK you aIMee,” and it’s pretty obvious the song is about Kim Kardashian and the years-long drama the two have. I mean, she even spells Kim’s name out in the name title. It’s giving Britney Spears’ “If U Seek Amy.”
Lyrics About Kim Kardashian
In the song, “Aimee” is a hometown bully who has a “bronze spray-tanned statue” (yikes). She talks about how Aimee was “throwin’ punches” while Taylor “was buildin’ something,” possibly referencing all of the small jabs Kim has seemed to throw over the years. In one part, Taylor sings:
And it wasn’t a fair fight, or a clean kill /
Each time that Aimee stomped across my gravе,” possibly talking about how her and then-husband Kanye West were basically tag-teaming her and trying to tear her down.
But the biggest jab? Taylor sings: “And one day, your kid comes home singin’ /A song that only us two is gonna know is about you.”
What Happened Between Taylor and Kim?
For those of you who haven’t been following this deeply-rooted beef, it all started before Kim even stepped into the picture. We all know about the Kanye West VMAs incident in 2009. Well, even when they buried the hatchet, things started to come up as Kim came into the picture in 2012. In 2015, Kanye released “Famous” referencing Taylor by name, saying he “made that bitch famous.” Thus, started the whole he-said-she-said around whether or not Kanye got approval from Taylor for the lyrics. Kim got involved in by releasing a video of Kanye calling Taylor getting permission to use her name in a song. There was a back-and-forth of shady interviews, and then Taylor released the music video for “Look What You Made Me Do” referencing people who commented the snake emoji under her posts following the Kim drama.
This sparked years of back-and-forth between the two about the phone call and the truth behind it (I’ll spare you the play-by-play), but most recently, North West shared a video seemingly mocking Taylor on her TikTok account. It was deleted shortly after but not quick enough for fans to miss it.
