In the shady TikTok that people believed Hailey liked, a creator named Courtney shared a few photos from Selena and Benny’s Interview magazine shoot (including the objectively cringe one of Selena’s feet on Benny’s face) and mocked them. On top of the pics, she wrote “I genuinely can’t decide which is the worst” and “I had to look at these photos so you do too.” The video only has about 5,000 likes, so it’s surprising Hailey would even see it, let alone interact with it. Lots of people in the comments section accused Hailey of “stalking” Selena and being “obsessed” with her.

Courtney then shared a follow-up TikTok, claiming that Hailey liked her video. She included a screenshot of the alleged notification and exclaimed, “Hailey Bieber herself liked my TikTok!” The creator speculated that this means “the Selena Gomez/Justin Bieber beef is alive and well, people.” As I’m sure you recall, Selena and Justin dated on and off for a decade (and were the most beloved couple ever), and then he got engaged to Hailey two months after they broke up for the last time. Selena and Hailey have publicly declared that they’re cool now, but I imagine they’ll always have complicated feelings about each other.

On March 9, Hailey’s rep responded with the following statement to E!: “This never happened. This entire story has been fabricated by a content creator looking to capitalize off of an old, tired narrative.” Oof. Starting a hurtful rumor is a pretty icky way to go viral. Courtney hasn’t responded to the statement yet, but her videos about this supposed like are still up as of now.
