I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t let a friend, let alone a stranger, go through my phone. But that’s what makes the new PeopleTV show Search History so funny. The host, hilarious comedian Michelle Collins, convinces strangers on the streets to let her go through their phones and film it for TV. Everything from Google searches to dating app messages to sweaty abs in the DMs, she shows us what she finds. Once you get past the second-hand anxiety of it all, it’s entertaining af.
Michelle Collins is like your coolest friend from work who’s always down to sneak vodka into coffee cups with you when you’re stuck at work till 5pm on a Friday. Basically, she seems like a good time but is also chill enough to not ruin anyone’s night making everything about her. I mean, we know she’s a good time because as soon as she gets one guy’s phone, she says “I’m about to know a lot about you. Length and girth.” Girl knows how to party.
What kind of crazy person would reveal their search history to a stranger? We’re not sure, but we’re glad they did. But I mean, we’ve done some dumb shit for attention too, so who are we to judge really? Much like we couldn’t look away from Britney’s 2007 breakdown when it was happening, we can’t help but watch Michelle expose people’s private messages and secrets they’re hiding in their phones.
It’s not all traumatizing though; Michelle’s there to help her subjects. She tells them she’s looking through their phone in a friendly way, and she even helps a guy get a date on a dating app. This guy straight-up has his dating apps saved in a folder called “Mr. Lonely”, which I mean, explains why he’s probably single. He’s lucky he had Michelle.
We can’t promise this will give you any more info on what’s on your crush’s phone, but we can tell you with certainty that this show is hilarious and fun to watch. The episodes are only 10 minutes long, which means you can literally watch this while waiting for your friend who always shows up late. Or if you’re the friend who’s always late, you can watch this while you’re straightening your hair and simultaneously texting your friends “Leaving now”. We give this show a hard “like”. Now if you need us, we’re going to go delete our search history.
