NBD, Just My Casual Conversation With Christina Aguilera About Pegging

Somehow, I dunno, through divine intervention maybe, I got Ms. Christina Aguilera AKA Xtina AKA all around pop legend on the phone. And let me tell ya, getting to make Xtina herself giggle and laugh just might’ve cured the mental illness. Any nerves or jitters I felt were immediately squashed by her warm, velveteen-enveloped voice, as if she was curling me up into her bosom and gently rocking me to sleep with “Beautiful.”

Known for her unabashed comfort with and in her sexuality, Christina acted as my sexual fairy godmother, whisking me through the world of Playground, a sexual wellness company she co-founded. We got down ‘n Dirrty, discussing its latest launch, Mood Maker, an intimacy oil packed with adaptogens, pleasure enhancers, and natural aphrodisiacs. It’s got a warm vanilla floral essence and silky texture; it’s full of vagina-lovin’ ingredients and soothing plant oils. It promises to ignite your senses and set the mood for all your sexiest connections. Perfect for pre-play, in-play, or replay. Consider it like your vagina on shrooms.

By the end of our time together, it felt like just us girls. You know, just talking about sex shops, dildos, and pegging. As girlies do, we also took a trip down memory lane, hopping in our time machines to the 2003 MTV VMAs (you may remember a certain kiss with Madonna and Britney.) You’re going to want to read this.

Christina! Thank you so much for hanging out with me today. PS: Congrats on the Burlesque on Broadway news, total underrated classic. I’ll be there on opening night.

Amazing! Love that. Thank you!

So last year at LA Pride you wore what can only be described as a gigantic strap on.

She was big. She was big.

She was purple right?

“Don’t Be Green With Envy.” She was green! You’re thinking of the eggplant emoji. *laughs*

Omg, yes, that’s definitely where that was coming from. Ok, so let’s say I wanted to explore strap ons/pegging in le bedroom. Are you an advocate? Do you have experience?

I wouldn’t have personal experience with that in giving advice, but I think explore your local sex store, go in there, see what’s going on in there. There are people that can help you and better inform you of all of that stuff. I love to ask questions in there and seeing what things are used for. Maybe some video?

I would imagine use lots of lube, yes? Hey, hey Mood Maker!

Clearly. Clearly. when you bring toys in, definitely something that you want to lubricate and make sure you’re well oiled. And what I love about Mood Maker, specifically, is that it doesn’t get into the sticky department.

Gimme all the tea on Mood Maker.

It’s an aphrodisiac for your vagina, which is amazing, but it’s something that every woman deserves and it’s something that I wanted to really bring attention to. I almost view it, for me, as a vitamin for my vagina.

Obsessed with that.

This is a new generation, where we are speaking more openly about it and just in the same way that you would think to go into a drugstore and buy conditioner or a moisturizer for your hair to look good or your body or your face or SPF, your vagina is the epicenter of your body and your wellbeing.

Here, here! You mentioned not being afraid to check out sex shops, too. What’s your history with them?

I was obsessed with sex stores growing up. Walking into a sex shop was so fun for me just because I’m like, oh my God, this is a whole world of just free thinking, fun and exploring your body. I’ve just always been in such admiration and applause for people going there.

Let’s switch gears to celebrate an anniversary. “The Kiss” between you, Madonna, and Britney was 20 years ago, which brb rolling myself into my grave. Reflecting on that moment, what was it like?

I enjoyed it! It was so fun. I was actually reading an old journal to a friend recently.

Oh my god. I want to read your journals!

And I just remember saying how much fun it was. It literally was a performer’s dream working with two powerhouse women as well. We, I think, had an epic moment with that. And, yeah, it’s something that I’ve always embraced through my career.

Piggybacking off of the kiss and thinking about time, how has your sexuality and the way you “own” it evolved over time?

I think that’s what many women love about getting older and wiser is because you just are able better to shut out the bullshit and truly own who you are and appreciate who you are and explore who you are. As I’ve approached 40, I’ve learned I can personally orgasm from four different places! Yeah, it’s about awareness and getting older and owning yourself. Opinions are like assholes, we know that, so there’s always going to be someone that loves what you’re doing, someone that always criticizes what you’re doing, and you have to learn, through time, that you have to shut out the critical narrative.
