Just a few days after the release, I’m already making Sabrina Carpenter’s sixth album, Short n’ Sweet, my entire personality. I suspect she must’ve put drugs in “Taste,” “Sharpest Tool,” and “Slim Pickins.” But just a theory. As expected, some of the lyrics seem to be about her bathwater-drinking buddy, Barry Keoghan. Sabrina and Barry have been romantically linked for about eight months now, and the Saltburn actor has been publicly supportive of the pop star’s singles, “Espresso” and “Please Please Please.”
Sabrina gave us a taste of Barry’s thoughts on “Please Please Please” during an early August interview with Variety. But how has he responded to Short n’ Sweet as a whole since the project came out? Fans have been waiting to see his reaction to the new music, especially as split rumors surface. How Did Barry Keoghan React To “Please Please Please”?
He’s a huge fan of the track, and I would hope so, considering he starred as a hot criminal in the music video. “He loved the song,” Sabrina told Variety. “He’s obsessed with the lyrics, and I’m so grateful for that.” (I would also be obsessed with the lyrics if the lyrics were about me.) She added, “I don’t want to sound biased, but I think he’s one of the best actors of this generation. So getting to see him on the screen with my song as the soundtrack made the video better and all the more special.” There’s definitely a gush-y tone here, so I’m guessing she and Barry were going strong when she gave this interview.

This Irishman still follows Sabrina on Instagram and literally no one else. He’s been quick to comment on several of her posts with a “Gorgeous” or a princess emoji. And of course, we all saw the clips of him fanboying and filming her at the Eras Tour and Coachella. So yeah, I kind of thought Barry would at least dedicate an Insta Story to celebrating Short n’ Sweet. But alas, there has been no Story so far, and there isn’t even a comment from him on one of Sabrina’s new posts about the album. He did “like” her official album announcement post on August 23 as well as the clip of the “Taste” music video she posted that day. Sure, liking posts is a gesture, but it’s a small one.
Honestly, I feel like these two are probably “off” for now, but I’m glad they still appear to be on okay terms.
