My favorite part about being an Arianator is that our princess of pop always makes sure her fandom stays eating good. If there’s one thing Ariana is gonna do, it’s show up and show out at work, whether that workplace is a studio where she can break our hearts with a gut-wrenching ballad about her ex or The Met Gala red carpet to make us gag for her in a ballgown. Ari’s wickedly talented, one-and-only Met Gala appearance back in 2018 wearing a custom Vera Wang Sistine Chapel printed dress with a giant tan bow to match was enough to make us focus on her future Gala appearances with bated breath (#justiceforFocus).
Picturing Ariana at this year’s event instantly triggered a handful of very serious questions. Would she follow this year’s theme “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” and its tandem dress code “The Garden of Time” as closely as she did previously with “Heavenly Bodies” or would the Eternal Sunshine vocalist lean towards something more emblematic of her recent album? Would Ari wear her Glinda-fied blond locks in a sleek slick back as has been her go-to lately, or will we see the return of her trademark Grande-sized ponytail, big enough to bitch slap the haters out of her orbit? And of course, the obvious query we didn’t want to wonder but still did anyway: would Ariana show up to the Met steps with Spongebob Squarepants? Because for the record if she did, I would’ve supported her un-alienated right to be young, dumb, and in love as a hot single millionaire.
At long last Ariana Grande’s 2024 Met Gala look is here to satisfy all of our questions and of course, the singer did not even come close to disappointing.
Ariana Grande’s 2024 Met Gala Look
Good Witch Of The Wilderness
Ariana skipped right over Good Witch and Bad Witch for the 2024 Met Gala, serving White Witch from the Chronicles of Narnia on an icy hot platter instead. Ariana is sparkling in a custom Loewe gown with an authentic mother-of-pearl corset bodice styled by Loewe’s creative director Jonathan Anderson. Part of the inspo for the piece came from Ariana’s birthstone (pearl, duh) as a June baby and also reflects subtle hues of green and pink to represent Glinda’s gorgeous Ozian bubble we’ll get to see Ari descend from on-screen when Wicked *finally* premiers on November 27, 2024. Though she couldn’t share much insider scoop about the film on the Gala’s red carpet, she did have a sweet bestie moment with her co-star Cynthia Erivo. As long as these two are bringing this magical energy we’re seeing on the carpet to the movie, I’ll be sat for both parts with zero complaints.
