Everything To Know About My Favorite TikToker, Podcaster, And Lover Of Octopi, Jake Shane

If you’ve ever spent any time on TikTok, I would hope you’re a proud member of the thriving pussy community. Jake Shane, also known as @octopusslover8, took the app by storm in 2021 when he started posting clever and hilarious impressions of dead historical figures, inanimate objects, and more. A few years later, he has three million followers on the app and hosts a comedic therapy session-style podcast, brilliantly titled Therapuss. Simply put, he’s an icon, he’s a legend, and he is the moment. In my totally unbiased opinion (I’m a stan), Jake represents the future of the entertainment industry.

Since I’m somewhat of an expert on Jake, I thought I’d extend a helping hand to those who need to study this important pop culture figure. Here’s everything to know about Jake Shane, including how he became famous, his dating history, and his long list of celeb BFFs.

Everything To Know About Jake Shane

Where Is Jake Shane From?

Jake grew up in the suburbs of New York City and went to high school in Washington Heights. Before he took over TikTok and became my idol, he was a college student at the University of Southern California.

How Did Jake Shane Get Famous?

It’s simple: He’s the funniest guy alive. Jake was always destined for social media fame, and it was his iconic impressions that ultimately led to his big break. He’s acted out everything from the first guy who milked a cow telling everyone in the village about it, to the founding fathers finding out John Hancock signed his name “super big,” to Clinton Kane practicing his Australian accent in the mirror. (He should do Clinton planning the fake Zoom funeral for his “dead” mom next.)

Now, Jake’s crushing the podcast world with Therapuss. On his show, he gives hilarious advice to the pussies and chats with stars like Ed Sheeran, Joe Jonas, and Charli XCX. I’m still waiting on my invitation.

Jake Shane’s Dating History

Jake is open about the fact that he’s never had a boyfriend. In a recent Instagram Story caption, he proclaimed, “If I don’t get a boyfriend by the end of 2024, I’m turning to religion.” So yeah, it seems like the situation may be getting dire.

The influencer does have casual hookups though. “I lost my virginity to a 39-year-old when I was 20,” Jake said during the July 11 episode of Therapuss. When a caller asked if he would recommend doing that, Jake said, “No. It was from Grindr honestly. It was crazy. It was during Covid. It was just a mess.” Jake revealed while chatting with E! that he pays for dating apps like Hinge with his dad’s credit card and then has to Venmo him. I fear very few guys on dating apps are worthy of the icon.

Jake Shane’s Celebrity Friends

Jake has pretty insane access to A and B-list celebs. He’s been super close with Sofia Richie Grainge for years, does pilates with Glen Powell, and currently has plans to get a tattoo with Joe Jonas in Mexico. Not to mention, he’s good friends with the queen of TikTok, Alix Earle, her budding influencer sister, Ashtin Earle, and Ashtin’s summer boy toy, DJ John Summit. Jake recently had a slumber party and got taquitos with that crew, and yes, jealousy is still coursing through my veins.

The podcast host is also besties with several of the pop artists he stans: Reneé Rapp, Charli XCX, and Tate McRae were all victims of his wild prank calls for Elle. They all picked up and were enthusiastic about helping him with outlandish problems, so these friendships seem very legit to me. That video is 12 minutes of flexing, and I love that for him.
