SZA Defends Megan Thee Stallion From Tory Lanez's "Stupid" Fans

Grammy-Award-winning rapper Megan Thee Stallion has had a huge year, between performing at Coachella, launching several new businesses, from a tequila to a new bathing suit line, Hot Girl Swim, and a new hit single. But Meg is also still dealing with the fallout from the 2020 shooting by rapper and singer Tory Lanez, who the courts found guilty of shooting Meg in the foot in 2022.

Now, nearly three years later, Tory’s lawyer, along with a representative from the state of Florida, is claiming there is new evidence that they allege proves Tory was not responsible for the incident. His legal team also alleges that Tory never received a fair trial (Tory was convicted after a fully adjudicated trial by “a jury of his peers,” Megan’s attorney noted to the press). Yet, Tory’s fans, including a group of mostly male celebrities, have taken the new evidence claims as an opportunity to vocally claim Tory is innocent and call for him to be pardoned.

Here are all of the celebrities weighing in on Megan Thee Stallion’s conviction against Tory Lanez in the shooting case.

In light of the recent rallying of Tory Lanez fans (including famous people with powerful platforms) despite Tory’s conviction using recorded evidence, SZA used an Instagram comment to defend her friend and co-worker, Meg.

SZA wrote “The density !!!!! I’m actually SO shocked at the amount of ppl fully comfortable bullying a woman that’s proven to be a victim of assault ??!” Megan’s team presented evidence of her being shot, specifically by Tory, including Ring camera footage, and text messages from Tory Lanez apologizing for shooting her.

SZA continued her comment, explaining that she couldn’t believe fans were making these allegations, “Like out loud where other ppl can see you ?? Lmao u finna be stupid OUTLOUD ?”

SZA’s reply landed under a post by a criminal defense attorney known as the luncheon lawyer, where she explains that any new evidence has to be presented to the court, not the public, to comply with the legal process.
