Loungewear You Can Actually Wear Out Of The House

I know we’ve all been hyper-focused on buying loungewear right now (because like, what else does one do during a global pandemic) but it’s time to start looking for the light at the end of the tunnel. Believe it or not, this thing is going to end at some point, and when it does, you don’t want to be stuck with a wardrobe full of pajamas. Because realistically, no matter how cute those pajamas are, you really can’t wear them out of the house. Now I’m not saying we all run out and order jeans—hell no. But rather, I’m suggesting we all start thinking more practically when it comes to our loungewear purchases. Instead of just shopping for the coziest loungewear to hang around the house in, let’s start shopping for pieces that we’ll want to lounge in now but are also appropriate enough for wearing out of the house post-quarantine. Here are some of the best versatile lounge pieces to wear during and post quarantine that you can shop right now.

1. Graphic T-Shirts

DAYDREAMER Led Zeppelin Electric Weekend Graphic Tee, $78

Urban Outfitters Cher Photo Tee, $49

White Fox Tour Season Tee, $49.99

Graphic tees are an easy way to look effortlessly stylish, whether worn now during quarantine paired with your DIY tie-dye sweats, or in a month or two worn out of the house with a pair of denim shorts. I recommend purchasing a graphic tee that’s oversized so that it fits extra comfy now and then, post-quarantine, you can just knot the bottom of your tee to give you a more figure-flattering shape.

2. Joggers

superdown x Draya Michele Seleste Drawstring Jogger, $62

Juniper Blu Tan Snake Print Jogger, $78

Out From Under Jaya Utility Jogger Pant, $49

Another loungewear item that can easily transition from chilling in your bedroom to wearing out of the house someday is a great pair of joggers. Look for a stylish, loose-fitting pair in a comfy material. You can pair any of the above joggers with a graphic tee for a comfy-casual quarantine look now and then pair the same joggers with a fitted bodysuit or crop top for a cool-girl going out look.

3. Jumpsuit

Free People Homecoming Jumper, $78

Camel Rib Sleeveless Tie Waist Jogger Jumpsuit, $23

MONROW Crepe Jumpsuit, $184

We’re all aware of the magic that is a great jumpsuit. You can wear any of these jumpsuits out of the house post-quarantine with a pair of chunky dad sneakers for a casual “running errands” look, or swap out the sneaks for heels and add some delicate jewelry for a going-out look.

4. Biker Shorts

White Fox Signature Bike Shorts, $34.99

Noli Yoga Aluminum Biker Short, $78

NSF Anika Lace Up Biker Short, $150

I don’t know why biker shorts get such a bad rap. They’re legit the warm-weather version of leggings, so what’s with the hate? And let me tell you, as someone who gets easily overheated to the point where I’d be concerned I’m going through menopause until I remember I’m only 26, I’ve been living in biker shorts this quarantine because leggings are doing too much. Biker shorts are comfy, breathable, and make me feel way more stylish than if I was just wearing basic leggings anyway.

5. T-Shirt Dress

Lulus Washed Black Shirt Dress, $45

Nasty Gal ‘Easy Does it Tee Dress’, $10.80

Neely Camo Notch Tee Dress, $74

T-shirt dresses are underrated. They’re super easy and effortlessly chic, plus you don’t have to wear pants. Basically, it’s the perfect warm-weather quarantine item. And, post-quarantine, it can easily be dressed up with accessories and a pair of fashionable shoes for an elevated casual look.

6. Lounge Overalls/Shortalls

Z SUPPLY French Terry Overalls, $79

Free People Riley Jumper, $78

Z SUPPLY Camo Short Overalls, $68

Another one of my personal go-to quarantine pieces is my lounge overalls. Pre-quarantine, my Z SUPPLY lounge overalls were always my go-to airport outfit because I could look cute and casual while still being super comfy. And, for that same reason, they’re now such a great quarantine essential. They even make a “shorts” version of these lounge overalls for the warmer weather, so I definitely recommend getting a version of each.

7. Wide Leg Pants

Blissed Out Wide-Leg pants, $78

Free People Cheet Day Pants, $88

Out From Under Daisy Tie-Dye Lounge Pant, $49

Wide-leg pants are great because they can easily pass as pajamas or as going-out pants, it all just depends on the look you’re going for and how you style them. All of these pants are great for hanging around the house now and also for wearing out of the house this spring/summer with a cute top or bodysuit.

Like I said, this thing will end. I don’t know when, and I don’t know how, but I do know that, when it does, we’re all going to be living our best lives, partying like we never have before. So, prepare yourself for when that great day comes and make sure you have some cute and trendy lounge clothes that are versatile enough to wear out of your house so you can seamlessly head out and get your party on.
