No matter how hard life gets (life, if you’re reading this, feel free to ease up), I can always remind myself to stay grateful that I’m living in the same time period as Beyoncé. Not everyone can say that! My condolences to ancient Rome, for example. Having the ability to see Beyoncé Giselle Knowles Carter perform IRL is The Gift, but can you even imagine if Beyoncé was your mom? I’m sure there’s a solid amount of pressure growing up as the daughter of the most iconic living artist to date, but somehow Beyoncé’s first child has handled the spotlight with such grace. Even when weirdos have displayed concerning hateration online, Beyoncé and Blue have held their heads high over the years. But a recent spotting of the eldest Carter daughter made me wonder, how old is the music industry’s most baller baby today? Here are the pictures of Blue Ivy Carter over the years you didn’t know would have you crying in the clurb on a Tuesday.
Blue Ivy Carter Photos: Then & Now
2024: Blue Ivy and Beyoncé at the Mufasa: The Lion King premiere
Babe, wake up, Blue Ivy Carter is a movie star now! Five years after Blue hit the carpet in matching sparkles with her mom (pictured below), the 12-year-old stood all on her own as a stunning lil’ lady for Mufasa. The event was held on December 9, 2024. Blue is voicing the character Kiara in the movie, while Beyoncé and Donald Glover are back as Nala and Simba.
Of course, Beyoncé was there to pose with her pre-teen bestie at the premiere. Bey looked magnificent (what else is new) in a gold gown to compliment, if not exactly match, Blue’s look. She is the HBIC of the lion kingdom, after all.
Did Jay-Z attend the 2024 Mufasa premiere with Blue Ivy?
Yes, Jay-Z showed up with a tux and smile to support his daughter Blue, alongside her grandmother Miss Tina, at the function.
2014: Blue Ivy debuts at the MTV Video Music Awards
Blue’s first major public debut (outside of the womb) was, of course, pretty iconic. Her mom was winning the Video Vanguard award in 2014 and graced the world with her then-two-year-old daughter’s presence.
2015: Blue Ivy’s First Grammy Awards
Blue Ivy’s first Grammy Awards appearance (of many to come) had the public in a tizzy at her looking pretty in pink. Three years old and already besties with Rihanna? Unheard of.
2016: Blue Ivy attends the CFDAs with Jay-Z
No better way to make sure your kid follows in your fashionable footsteps than by letting her shmooze with the world’s top fashion designers in New York. Jay-Z’s too-cute mini-me kept it classic in a satin blazer and feathered shift dress as her dad’s date for the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s awards ceremony.
2016: Beyoncé and Blue return to the VMAs
Now four years old, little Blue was ready to make a statement on the red carpet. I mean, when your mom is basically wearing angel wings do you have any other choice but to rock a crown?
2017: Blue Ivy’s Grammy Skit With James Corden
Apols for jump scaring you with James Corden, but just focus on how adorable the tiniest Carter was in her pink Prince-inspired suit.
2017: Jay-Z, Beyoncé, and Blue Ivy attend a Knicks game
Between letting Blue sit court-side, have screen time, and eat cotton candy, Bey and Jay were winning the chillest parents of the year award. The now five-year-old spent the night socializing with Knicks players and super fans like Spike Lee.
2018: Blue Ivy returns to The Grammys
Though her pops didn’t bring home Album of The Year (that went to Bruno Mars’ 24K Magic) the whole family still had fun. TBH, Alicia Keys bowing at the feet of music royalty before she ends up running the whole industry is quite wise.
2019: Blue attends The Lion King movie premiere
At age seven, Blue Ivy Carter had already been featured on two billboard hits, “Glory” (yes, gurgling counts) by Jay-Z and “Blue” by Beyoncé. But 2019 would mark her foray into feature film territory. Blue’s vocals are a part of Beyoncé’s magical anthem “Brown Skinned Girl” from the 2019 Lion King live-action remake (which earned the junior icon her first Grammy). The Carter ladies stepped out to support the movie in matching sparkly sheer gowns. Blue looks so much like her mom here!
2022: Jay-Z and Blue Ivy watch the NBA Finals
At the NBA Finals, Jay-Z and B.I.C. stunted in all black everything. No longer the toddler we saw on stage at the VMAs, Blue was coming into her style with chic sunnies and timeless gold hoops. Now, tell me that’s not the coolest 10-year-old you’ve ever seen.
2023: Blue Ivy was a dancer for Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour
Beyoncé made history with her record-breaking world tour for the album Renaissance. What fans didn’t know is that her daughter, Blue, had been training to be a background dancer on her mom’s highly-watch world stage. As shared in the Renaissance movie, Bey wasn’t immediately on board with Blue dancing but the mom of three ultimately decided it was a great opportunity for her eleven-year-old to learn some commitment and discipline to her craft. Blue wasn’t originally set to keep touring with her mom after her first appearances, but after seeing negative reactions to her dance moves online, she let her haters be her motivators and kept practicing. Practice paid off, because by the time Blue made it to the first stop of the American tour in Philly, she was a total pro (I was a firsthand witness!).
2024: Blue supports Jay-Z on stage for his Dr. Dre Global Impact Award at The Grammys
Now this is where you may start feeling old. In case it wasn’t obvious, Blue was not a baby anymore in 2024. The 12-year-old looked like a mini movie star while cheering on her dad for his big Grammy lifetime achievement win.
2024: Jay-Z took his kids to the Super Bowl
Days later, Jay took Blue Ivy Carter (12) and his younger daughter Rumi Carter (7) to enjoy the Super Bowl in Las Vegas. The family resemblance between the two sisters is truly off the charts.

While sad fans were wishing they could attend the Wicked movie event in LA (me), Blue was chilling behind the scenes in a charming pink dress with sweet and subtle matching makeup and accessories.
