Romance fans, we stay winning! As romancelandia continues to take over more and more of BookTok, we’re seeing more and more movie and TV adaptations of all our favorite love stories. And the latest to get the on-screen treatment is the “Off Campus” book series from writer Elle Kennedy.
In October 2024, Amazon MGM Studios announced they’re making a TV series out of the hit book series and Elle Kennedy shared the news on her Instagram. She wrote, “That’s right, the Briar universe is coming to your screens! And this wouldn’t be happening if it weren’t for YOU–the readers who have championed this series so passionately. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your support, kind words, and all the hockey love.”
The best part is it looks like there’s a stellar TV team behind the adaptation. Louisa Levy, who worked on Death and Other Details, is the creator and showrunner. But she’s also teaming up with Gina Fattore, who’s behind classic dramas like Gilmore Girls and Dawson’s Creek. OG fans of The Deal and all the other books in the “Off Campus” series know that classic CW drama vibe is exactly what we want brought to this TV show.

Each book in the “Off Campus” series follows a different hockey player (and his love life) at Briar University. So, just like with Bridgerton, each season of Off Campus will pull from one of the books and focus on one couple. So, season 1 of Off Campus will be based on the first book in the series, The Deal.
The Deal tells the story of Garrett Graham, the school’s star hockey player, and Hannah Wells, a music major with a dark past who hates hockey but makes a deal to tutor Graham. According to Variety, the first season of Off Campus “follows the unlikely romance between a wry, hockey-hating music major and Briar University’s playboy star center. The series depicts the elite ice hockey team, and the women in their lives, as they grapple with love, heartbreak, and self-discovery—forging deep friendships and enduring bonds while navigating the complexities that come with transitioning into adulthood.”
There are four other books in the “Off Campus” series, plus two spinoff series. So if the TV show takes off, there’s plenty of story there.
Who’s In The Off Campus Cast?
On May 6, the season 1 cast of Off Campus was announced. Ella Bright, who played Kate Middleton in The Crown, will step into the role of Hannah. Belmont Cameli from the Saved By The Bell reboot series will play Garrett. I definitely see it.
The rest of the cast will be rounded out by Mika Abdalla as Allie, Antonio Cipriano as Logan, Jalen Thomas Brooks as Tucker, Josh Heuston as Justin, and Stephen Kalyn as Dean.
When Will Off Campus Come Out?
There’s no release date yet for Off Campus. Since filming is just getting going, I would guess we’re looking at a release date sometime in 2026.
