Sooo, it sounds like Zach Bryan is a really horrible person. I… can’t believe it! Fortunately, I’ve never been a fan and will have no problem continuing to not stream his woe-is-me-I’m-a-white-man music. If you’ve been following along on social media, you know that Zach and Brianna Chickenfry were the It Country Singer and Influencer Couple for the last year (and possibly the only couple in that category, but details, details). They met at the Academy of Country Music Awards in May 2023 and were officially dating by the following July. Two weeks ago, Zach “blindsided” Brianna by announcing their breakup in an Instagram Story with ~interesting~ grammar. “Brianna and me have broken up with each other,” he wrote — conveniently after online detectives discovered his active Raya profile. He added, “I failed people that love me and mostly myself.” Now, Brianna’s sharing her side of the breakup and it seems like it was a lot messier than Zach let on. She is accusing him of abuse, bullying her friends, and trying to silence her with money. Here’s a full breakdown of the Zach Bryan and Brianna Chickenfry breakup drama.
We reached out to Zach’s team for comment, but did not hear back by the time of publication.
Zach Bryan And Brianna Chickenfry Drama, Explained
Why Did Zach Bryan And Brianna Chickenfry Break Up?
After skipping a week of recording BFFs to take some time for herself and organize her thoughts, Brianna shared her Zach story a week later in the November 7 episode of the podcast. She accused the country star of emotional abuse, yelling at and belittling her friends, and trying to silence her with a huge sum of money. “The last year of my life has been the hardest year of my life dealing with the abuse from this dude,” she shared. “I’m still scared right now because I’m scared of him. “My brain’s rewired and I’m scared to make him mad and last week, I didn’t want to talk about it ’cause I was scared.” Brianna described Zach’s relationship style as “build you up, beat you down, apologize over and over.”
“There was always another excuse as to why he was treating me so poorly and why I’m crying myself to sleep every night,” she explained during the episode. “Why he’s screaming at me and then you wake up, it’s the apology, it’s the ‘I’m going to be better like I need you in my life.'” The influencer noted that only people who have experienced emotional abuse will understand what she’s talking about.
Brianna alleged that Zach had his exes (Rose Madden and Deb Peifer) sign non-disclosure agreements, so they wouldn’t be able to share their own experiences. She says Zach’s team offered her $12 million to “not talk about the relationship.” According to her, they also offered her a house and a New York City apartment. Although she briefly considered taking the money (who wouldn’t at that amount), Brianna realized she couldn’t do it.
She pointed out that she was already successful before dating him and will continue to be successful after their relationship. “I’m not signing away my experiences and what I went through to protect someone that hurt me,” Brianna said. “I’m a lot stronger than a weak man. Fuck you and fuck your money.” Say! It! Louder!
When Dave asked if her relationship with Grace O’Malley is better following the breakup, Brianna replied, “Me and Grace will always be fine.” But she admitted, “There’s something huge in this which kind of, like, demolished our relationship.” The podcast host shared that Zach rented a house to celebrate her birthday, and all her friends (including Grace) and family were invited. Hours after Brianna went to bed in that house, she woke up to people screaming and discovered that Zach was yelling “horrible shit” at her friends. Brianna has a video of this incident and suspects that’s why the singer’s team offered her so much money.
Are Zach Bryan’s “High Road” Lyrics About Brianna Chickenfry?
Frankly… I don’t know who else it would be about. Zach appears to be trying to go all ~tortured poet~ on Brianna, already releasing ridiculous breakup songs as (what I think is) a distraction. “Adderall and white-lace bras that makes you fall in love / You left your blue jeans in my pickup truck,” he croons in “High Road,” which he released the same day the BFFs episode came out. What a coincidence!
Brianna said in the episode that he needs therapy, and Zach says in the song: “Everyone is tellin’ me that I need help or therapy / But all I need is to be left alone.” In the chorus, he whines about a woman who will “come back and haunt you forever.” Welp, I certainly hope she does, but considering the guy reactivated his Raya the day they broke up, I think he’ll move on pretty swiftly.
