Being a Love is Blind fan is becoming a full-time job at this rate. I went straight from lusting after Freddie the Funeral Director to listening to Ramses disparage condoms to watching Chafic publicly declare his love a la Romeo. It’s been quite a month for my Netflix account, less so for my own dating life. But given that I spent ten years of my formative youth living in Dubai, I was fucking READY for this show.
As we come to the end of Love is Blind: Habibi, the first season of the Arab spin-off, I am still gasping at some of those twists and turns. From 20 contestants originating from a diverse range of Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Syria, Morocco, Tunisia, Jordan, and Iraq, we ended up with six couples leaving the pods. But which Love is Blind: Habibi couples are still together? What reveals can we expect from the yet-to-be-announced reunion? Let’s start yapping.
Which Love Is Blind: Habibi Couples Are Still Together?
Asma and Khatab
So, on one side, we’ve got Egyptian entrepreneur and marketing director Asma. On the other side, Iraqi-Canadian architect and DJ Khatab. Honestly, I feel lame for only having one job right now!! Anyway, this couple hit it off in the pods and bonded over their shared values and plans fir the future. But when they met for the first time, Asma changed her mind and wanted out. THAT IS LITERALLY MY WORST NIGHTMARE YIKES.
But PLOT TWIST, they came back and joined the others at the resort. Idk how Khatab could get past being pied like that, but props to his ego. Blood proved to be thicker than water… or lust, as the pair’s disapproving families led them to go their separate ways on their wedding day. On their wedding day, Asma left Khatab at the altar and said, “Today is not the decisive day.” She had claimed to be still committed to the relationship, but I guess we’ll see how that turned out at the reunion.
Dounia and Chafic
Okay, people either love or hate this couple. I don’t want to pick sides, but I’ll just throw in some casual terms like love bombing, toxic, gaslighting, and drama stirrer. Just leaving those there for you.
So Chafic made his feelings VERY KNOWN in the pods by yelling Dounia’s name from the men’s lounge in a public profession of his love. Yeah, their other connections didn’t love that. The pair got engaged soon after, but came tumbling down at the resort due to tension with Nour, a contestant Chafic knew before the show. Also, a major red flag was Chafic saying how he doesn’t like women who have many exes and that this makes them “emotionally done.” Sir, I am “emotionally done” with you.
The pair called it quits before their wedding, but we’ll see at the reunion whether this lasted.
Karma and Ammar
Karma is a cat, purrrrrrring on my lap…. Karma is the guy on the Chiefsssss…. Karma is not married to Ammar!!! Sorry, but I feel like Girlboss Karma would approve of that lil Swizzle moment. They were one of the first couples to hit it off and go steady with one another. They bonded over their shared love of music and sense of humor (can’t relate).
But it turns out there is more to a marriage then which song is on the radio or knock knock jokes (who’s there? A receipt for your engagement ring!!!). So it didn’t come as much of a surprise that Karma and Ammar called it quits on their engagement. The entrepreneur and dentist had differences throughout the show, and surprisingly it wasn’t about what the fuck an entrepreneur actually is. Like I know the DEFINITION, but it’s giving the same vagueness and self-importance of a Man In Finance©.
No, the couple’s tensions came from their differing opinions on careers and traditional values. For example, Ammar said he’d never allow his wife to dance, and Karma was like nah bish. I’m with you; ain’t no one stopping me slut dropping in da club. Karma and Ammar broke up and likely haven’t rekindled things.
Hajar and Simo
I NEED ANSWERS. Simo was not vibing with other participants until he met Moroccan fashion entrepreneur Hajar. But Hajar and Simo faced numerous challenges in the pod stage and somehow still got engaged.
Not for long, though, as before we knew it, the rings were off, and the duo had called it quits. The final straw came in the resort when the participants all met for a mixer. Simo got into a heated argument with Chafic, and legit, they almost started hitting each other. Hajar got the ick from this (rightly so) and Simo was mad she didn’t stand up for him — sir???? He left the show and that was that. Hopefully, the reunion will give us the answers we need about Hajar and Simo. Or potentially lead to another fistfight.
Nour and Mido
LITERALLY, WHY WAS NOUR NOT IN THE LATEST VICTORIA’S SECRET SHOW? This Lebanese model was engaged with Egyptian real estate consultant Mido. Again, I know what someone in real estate does, but a real estate CONSULTANT? Make it make sense.
This pairing felt doomed from the start as they only came together after their primary connections got engaged to other people. This fiery duo broke up in episode five already after numerous issues. Their personalities seemed to clash constantly, and I have no doubt words will be flung in the reunion. The real question is whether Nour and Chafic found their way to each other…
Safa and Mohammad
The happy ending we all desperately needed! Honestly, I was beginning to think love might not be blind (loooool)!! Iraqi finance manager Safa and Jordanian marketing manager Mohammed were so wholesome. Right from the start, Safa was uber clear on what she needed from her future partner, “Respect, communication, generous, decent and caring,” — I just want to add “great in the sack.” These two teens in love proved all the naysayers wrong, and both said “I do” at the altar. Their vows were super intimate and sweet, and they’d received blessings from all their family members. I can’t wait to see them at the reunion, but I swear that if this is another Steven and Sabrina, I might just cancel my Netflix subscription. Eagle-eyed viewers have pointed out that they don’t follow each other on social media… say it ain’t so!!
