I gotta say… The Television Academy really shook things up at the 77th Emmys! I expected to hear The Bear and The White Lotus called out 50 million times, but instead, new shows The Studio and The Pitt won big last night. (Thank goodness!) And while Nate Bargatze was not exactly my dream host, the show still delivered plenty of exciting and meaningful moments. There were a few incredible fits (looking at you, Princess Lisa), iconic reunions, historic wins, and powerful acceptance speeches that had me tearing up from my couch. Now, all we need is Nikki Glaser or Tina Fey and Amy Poehler to take over hosting duties next year. Please. I’m respectfully begging.
If you didn’t catch all three hours of the award show, I got you covered: From a Selena Gomez gossiping clip to an epic Gilmore Girls reunion to Tramell Tillman making history, here’s everything you missed at the 2025 Emmys.
The 2025 Emmys Recap: Best Moments
An Iconic Rory & Lorelai Gilmore Reunion

Everyone’s favorite mom-daughter duo is so back! The stage transformed into the front porch of their Stars Hollow home as they went up to present. “Twenty-five years ago, a show called Gilmore Girls premiered, and apparently took the season of fall hostage,” Lauren joked. The pair presented the Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series to The Studio, reminiscing about the “great,” “big,” and “terrifyingly lengthy” scripts they tackled during their Gilmore Girls days.
Selena Gomez (Allegedly) Gossiped About Martin Short And Meryl Streep

An award show just isn’t complete without a Selena Gomez gossiping moment. I’m obsessed with this clip of her looking over at Martin Short and then (seemingly) whispering to Benny Blanco: “Marty’s texting Meryl.”
Stephen Colbert Got A Standing O
Here’s Stephen Colbert earning a massive standing ovation at the #Emmys and jokes “Is anyone hiring?”

When Stephen won the Emmy for Outstanding Talk Series, the whole crowd showed their love with a standing ovation.”Is anybody hiring?” he joked. The late night host gave an emotional speech almost two months after his show was canceled. “Sometimes, you only truly know how much you love something when you get a sense that you might be losing it,” he said. “I have never loved my country more desperately. God bless America. Stay strong, be brave, and if the elevator tries to bring you down, go crazy and punch a higher floor!”
Nate Bargatze’s Annoying Countdown Clock Gimmick
Imagine winning an Emmy and instead of flashing a timer countdown they’re flashing this at you instead, no wonder so many speeches are getting frazzled when they can see the counter going down while they’re on stage! #Emmys pic.twitter.com/bZmsvOLAm3

#FreeUsFromTheCountdownClock. Host Nate Bargatze’s idea to donate to Boys & Girls Club of America was admirable, but his method of doing so couldn’t have been more annoying. He warned everyone that he would dock money if speeches ran over 45 seconds, leaving actors stressed, frantic, and racing through their special moments. We were all tired of the joke after the first few times.
Tramell Tillman Made History
Tramell (aka Milchick in Severance) became the first Black man to win an Emmy for best supporting actor in a drama! “My first acting coach was tough, y’all, but all great mothers are,” he joked. “Mama, you were there for me when no one else was and no one else would show up. Your loving kindness stays with me and this is for you.”
It Was A Huge Night For The Pitt

The Pitt winning outstanding drama series and Noah Wyle and Katherine LaNasa winning their respective categories (lead actor in a drama series and supporting actress in a drama series) is VERY important to me. Noah dedicated his win to ER workers, and Katherine thanked the nurses that inspired her character.
