Wait, What Happened Between Lily Allen & Zoë Kravitz? Zoë's Allegation Explained

(The songs allegedly detail the unraveling of her relationship with Stranger Things star David Harbour.) Now that Lily’s in the spotlight again because everyone’s obsessed with the sharp breakup bangers, one of her old controversies is resurfacing.

At this point, you’ve probably seen the clip of Zoë Kravitz making a troubling revelation about an interaction she had with Lily. During Zoë’s 2018 appearance on Watch What Happens Live!, Andy Cohen brought up Lily’s memoir, My Thoughts Exactly — specifically the part where she writes about kissing Zoë. Turns out Zoë has a very different perspective about what went down. So, what exactly happened between Zoë Kravitz and Lily Allen? Here’s a breakdown of the controversy.

Lily Allen & Zoë Kravitz Drama, Explained

What Happened Between Lily Allen And Zoë Kravitz?

In Lily’s 2018 memoir, she reflected on her friendship with Zoë and described a night out where they kissed. “For my New York shows, Zoë Kravitz and her band Lolawolf supported me, so I got to know Zoë a bit,” she wrote. “We became friends.”

The singer continued: “Later in the tour, when we were in Washington, the girls and their nanny, Jess, came out to visit me for a few days, but I had to go back to New York for a day or so for work. Zoë and I went out partying and ended up kissing. I heard that later that same night she’d got down with A$AP Rocky. Go girl, I thought.”

But when Andy brought up the passage on WWHL, Zoë seemed to have a very different take on what happened that night.

“I was wondering if Lily Allen warned you that she was going to write about the two of you kissing in her autobiography, and how did that come about?” Andy asked her. Zoë quipped, “Who is Lily Allen?” before replying, “If by kissing she means, like, attacking, then yes, she kissed me.” The actress emphasized, “Attacked me.”

She noted that the moment was portrayed “like [she] wanted it,” but that was not the case. “I don’t think anybody read the book,” Zoë said, pointedly.

As the British singer’s new album gets more and more attention, not everyone is comfortable supporting her music due to these allegations from Zoë. “i’m sorry but no matter how much people praise lily allen’s album, i just can’t press play,” one X user wrote. “the fact that she sexually assaulted zoë kravitz and it’s being brushed over like nothing happened?? just vile.”

Others are defending Lily amid the new wave of backlash. One fan posted a TikTok video of herself dancing to Lily’s new song, “Pussy Palace,” and wrote, “playing this on repeat bc people have already decided she’t not the perfect victim and deserved the abuse.”

Lily has never publicly commented on Zoë’s allegation.
