While Justin has yet to make a public statement about Selena’s engagement (I sincerely doubt that will ever happen), a source told The Daily Mail: “When he heard that Selena was engaged, he’ll even admit, it stung for a brief second. Because even though they will never be friends or date again or anything like that, it is officially the end of an era.” I mean, I’d say the Jelena era was definitively over in 2018, but whatever you say, anonymous source. They continued, “His past is so connected with Selena, and now that she is engaged, he is married and a father, it’s a bit of a shock to the system that everyone is getting older.” Crazy how that happens.

Despite the alleged “sting” of the engagement, the source claims Justin “won’t be stressing much about it.” Uh, yeah, I’d hope he’s more focused on Hailey and their baby. According to the insider, the singer “hopes that she (Selena) is well and happy at the end of the day.”

Four days after Selena and Benny’s announcement, Justin posted several lovey-dovey photos of himself and Hailey on Insta. In his latest post, a couple selfie featuring Hailey kissing his neck, he notably included Lizzy McAlpine’s song, “all my ghosts.” Now, I would never overanalyze anything like this. Never. But in that song, Lizzy sings, “All my ghosts are with me / I know you feel them too.” An interesting choice for the Insta post four days after Selena’s announcement, that’s all.

Selena’s now-fiancé unfortunately used to be besties with Justin. They collaborated on many-a hit song together, including “Eenie Meenie, “Somebody to Love,” “Love Yourself,” and “Lonely.” But it seems like their close friendship ended when Benny started dating Selena (because duh). In August, an insider told In Touch Weekly that Justin was “offended” after Benny “totally cut him out of his life.” According to the source, this came as a “huge shock” to Justin. Girl, please. There’s literally nothing shocking about that. Selena’s been very open about how emotionally damaging her relationship with Justin was.

Despite the source’s claim that Benny “cut out” Justin entirely, Benny and Justin still follow each other on Instagram. Although I’m sure Justin’s seen both Benny and Selena’s posts about their engagement, he hasn’t liked or commented.
