Happy New Year to everyone, especially Ariana Grande! SpongeBob Squarepants’ girlfriend blessed us all by announcing she will be releasing new music in 2024, aka her seventh album. On December 27, Ariana posted a carousel on Instagram of pics and videos sharing a behind-the-scenes look at her recording in the studio with producer Ilya Salmanzadeh. “See you next year,” she captioned the photos with a heart.
In one clip recorded on the last day of the album, Ariana is crying on the couch after working hard on her new music. “I’m so tired,” she said while ummm kind of laughing but also sobbing? “But so happy and grateful. I also feel like I weigh 3,000 tons.” She also shared a selfie of her giving a thumbs up with tears streaming down her cheeks sooo uhh, GUESS THIS IS GONNA BE AN EMOTIONAL ALBUM. Can we expect some songs about her split from Dalton Gomez and her now living blissfully in love in a pineapple under the sea? God, I sure hope so.
She also sent some lucky fans a few packages to get them excited for this new AG7 ~era~.

So a new album, and two Wicked movies? God bless you, Ari. It’s been over three years (more like four, ok) since we’ve gotten new music from her, with her last album being Positions in 2020. The news of new music comes just one day after Ariana made a VERYYY rare outing with her boyfriend Ethan Slater, aka my man Sponge. The two were seen together in NYC (the photos are here) just days before Christmas, so there’s a pretty good chance the lovebirds celebrated the holidays together!!! Getting serious hehe.
Of course, lots of fans went to Twitter to share their excitement for the new album. “ARIANA GRANDE CRYING IN THE STUDIO WE ARE NOT READY,” one person wrote, while a second posted, “throwing up twice, crying and shaking and its all just because Ariana posted a photo dump.” SORRY ONE MORE — this is my favorite, and when I tell you I am howling: “can’t believe i have to listen to ariana sing abt spongebob for a full album.” Lolol.
Okay, so we’re pumped for new music, now let’s discuss the Sponge. Ariana and Ethan started officially dating in July 2023 and have been spotted getting cozy a couple of times now. They met on the set of Wicked and became an item after her breakup from Dalton and his separation from wife Lilly Jay. It was also reported that they moved in together, but I am unable to personally verify. All I know is that a source told Us Weekly they’re “really happy and really good for each other.” Fine, then I’m happy too.
Anyway, can’t wait for ag7 and also to see what else ~blossoms~ in 2024 between Ari and SpongeBob — fuck, I mean Ethan.
