Kate Middleton is opening up about her cancer treatment and current condition in a new statement on Instagram. After she wasn’t seen for a while at the beginning of the year, there was lots of speculation about her whereabouts that led to some pretty wild theories. The Princess of Wales ended that internet frenzy in March when she shared that she’d been diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy. At the time, she said that the diagnosis was a “huge shock” and explained that she and Prince William wanted to handle it privately. Since her surgery and diagnosis, Kate’s been taking time off from her royal duties to get well. On June 14, she took to Instagram to share a photo of herself enjoying nature and give an update on her health.
In her caption, Kate thanked everyone for their messages of support and wrote, “I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days.” She shared where she’s at with her treatment and revealed which royal event she’ll be attending soon. Kate shared that she’s been experiencing ups and downs throughout the treatment process. “There are good days and bad days,” she wrote. “On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well.”
She noted that although her treatment will be ongoing for a few more months, she’s starting to do some work and activities that make her happy. “On the days I feel well enough, it is a joy to engage with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to do a little work from home,” Kate wrote.
She announced she will be attending The King’s Birthday Parade with her family this upcoming weekend and hopes to “join a few public engagements over the summer” if she’s able.
“I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty,” Kate continued. “Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much needed time to heal.”
Kate Middleton’s Cancer Diagnosis

Kate learned her diagnosis after undergoing “major abdominal surgery” back in January at the London Clinic. In a March 22, 2024 video statement, she shared: “The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.”
We’re wishing her all the best as she continues her treatment and heals!
