Gen Z isn’t just out here dancing on TikTok and making us all feel ancient — they’re also having babies and (wait for it) having the best sex of their lives. Yep, you read that right. According to a super juicy study by Culture Bureau, our youngest adults are living their best parenthood and bedroom lives.
So, let’s get into the nitty-gritty, shall we? This survey, conducted with a whopping 5,335 parents aged 20-40 and 1,000 child-free folks aged 20-27, spills all the tea on how Gen Z parents are thriving. Yes, “Gen Z Parents” means those 20-27-year-olds with kiddos under six. And if you’re Gen Z without kids, you’re also in the spotlight.
Here’s the part where it gets fascinating: Instead of drifting apart, Gen Z parents are reporting the most satisfying sex lives. Maybe it’s the joy of watching their mini-me’s grow or the sheer adrenaline of keeping a tiny human alive, but these young parents feel that having kids has strengthened their relationships. So, let’s squash that old myth that kids ruin relationships.
Kasi Bruno, a strategic foresight expert and co-founder of the Culture Bureau, tells Betches that according to the data, Gen Z is reporting more positive emotions when it comes to parenthood than older generations.
“Gen Z parents don’t appear to be in their heads as much,” Bruno says. “When you look at emotions they report experiencing most regularly, the young parents are just happier.”
Let’s unpack this. One theory could be that having kids forces a new level of intimacy and partnership. When you’re up at 3 AM dealing with a teething baby, you learn to rely on each other in ways you never did before. This closeness can translate to better communication and connection in the bedroom. Think about it: if they can handle diaper blowouts and midnight feedings, they can handle anything.
Plus, as Bruno pointed out, Gen Z is known for being open-minded and breaking taboos, whether it’s about mental health, sexuality, or parenting. They’re not afraid to talk about what they want and need, which is a huge plus for a healthy sex life.
Contrast this with their child-free counterparts, who are apparently having the least satisfying sex. I know, I know! I’m shocked, too. Perhaps it’s the lack of time constraints or the thrill of sneaking in a quickie while the baby naps? As many of us have experienced firsthand, the dating pool has been awful and as a result, celibacy has been a common theme among childless Gen Z. According to another recent survey, Gen Z was reported to have the lowest libido across all generations.
“We know Gen Z’s are having a hard time meeting new people and dating,” Bruno says. “So perhaps for these parents who have partners, it’s a question of having regular access to a sexual partner.”
It’s not just about the sex (though that’s a pretty fab perk). Gen Z parents are proving they can handle parenthood’s pressures while maintaining strong, fulfilling relationships. They’re redefining what it means to be a young parent in the 21st century — from sharing responsibilities equally to prioritizing self-care and couple time. Gen Z parents are rewriting the parenting handbook by showing that you don’t have to sacrifice your relationship (or your sex life) to raise kids.
So, the next time someone side-eyes a 25-year-old parent, just remember: Gen Z is not only capable of raising kids — they’re having mind-blowing sex while doing it. If that’s not #ParentGoals, I don’t know what is.
