Every Superstitious Thing You Need To Do On NYE To Land A Boo In 2025

If you’re entering yet another new year single, you’re not alone. This will be the sixth year I have not had a boyfriend and I got to tell you: I’m ready for that to change. Now, I’ve already done therapy and healing and loving myself and blah blah blah. I’ve also started going to singles events and redownloading dating apps — basically, I’ve done everything I can to logically get a partner. But just to make sure my bases are extra covered, this year I’ve decided to dabble in a more superstitious checklist to try and get a boyfriend.

I like to consider myself a pretty superstitious person. I don’t split the pole with my friends, I’ll knock on wood just in case, and you will always catching me making a wish at 11:11. So it only makes sense that I incorporate some of my superstitious beliefs into one of my New Year’s resolutions: getting into a relationship.

Now, you’ve probably seen some of these superstitions already on TikTok, but I decided to put them all in one place so that you can do everything you can to make sure you find the love of your life in 2025.

Here are a few things you can do on NYE to maximize your chances of love this year.

New Year’s Eve Superstitions To Find Love This Year

Wear Red Underwear

In Spain and Italy, wearing red undies on New Year’s Eve is basically a love spell for the year ahead. But heads up: They have to be new. No one said romance starts with your old, stretched-out granny panties.

Eat 12 Grapes At Midnight

The Spanish don’t just pop champagne at midnight — they also pop 12 grapes, one for every stroke of the clock. Each grape is like a little manifestation snack for a lucky month in the new year. Word on the street is, if you’re single, this tradition might help you manifest a boo. In some Caribbean countries, this doesn’t work unless you eat the grapes underneath a table.

Eating Pomegranates

If you want to manifest love and abundance, grab a pomegranate. In Greek culture, smashing a pomegranate at midnight or just eating its jewel-like seeds is thought to bring luck, love, and prosperity. Plus, it’s basically the OG aphrodisiac, so consider it a romantic double whammy.

Eat Black Eyed Peas

No, not the band. In the Southern U.S., black-eyed peas are a New Year’s Eve must-eat for good luck and financial blessings. And hey, maybe that luck will extend to your love life — because who doesn’t want to meet someone rich and charming?

Have A Man Walk Through Your Door

Known as “first-footing” in Scotland, this superstition says the first person to enter your home after midnight sets the tone for your year. Ideally, it’s a tall, dark, and handsome man carrying gifts. If that’s not a rom-com setup waiting to happen, I don’t know what is.

Kiss Someone At New Years

The midnight kiss isn’t just something random and cutesy that people do — it’s actually rooted in superstition. A smooch as the clock strikes 12 supposedly guarantees romance for the year ahead. No kiss? No love life. (I don’t make the rules, I just enforce them.) So yeah, start scouting your target early.
