Cringe comedy is back, baby! We officially have our first details about the spinoff of The Office, and it looks good. I don’t know, is there something weird about me that I’m excited for another TV show where we hang out with people in a totally mundane office. Like, put me in an actual office, and I’m counting down the minutes to leave. But let me watch other people be bored, and I’m in heaven. If you feel the same way as me, then this show is for you.
The new spinoff series is called The Paper, and no, it’s not about the literal product the paper company Dunder Mifflin from The Office sold. No, The Paper refers to a fictional newspaper in Toledo, Ohio, and the series will follow the people who work for it and are trying to keep journalism alive. TBH, part of the charm of The Office was just how boring their paper salespeople jobs were, but journalism seems like at least a marginally more interesting career. But, I put my trust in the creator to give this series the same cringey charm of The Office.
Here’s everything we know about the new spinoff of The Office, The Paper.

The Paper Plot
The Paper is set at a newspaper office in Toledo, and The Office was famously set at Dunder Mifflin paper company in Scranton. So what’s the connection? It all goes back to the mockumentary. The official logline for The Paper reads: “The documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch is in search of a new subject when they discover a historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it.”
There’s one more major connection: Oscar from The Office is also a part of this cast. Apparently the character went from being an accountant at Dunder Mifflin to an accountant at The Paper‘s struggling newspaper, called the Toledo Truth Teller. I guess his run for state senator at the end of The Office didn’t go so well.
The Paper Cast
In addition to Oscar Nuñez, who’s reprising his role of Oscar, The Paper stars Domhnall Gleeson as an idealistic new employee and Sabrina Impacciatore (remember her from White Lotus season 2?) as a the managing editor in charge. The rest of the cast includes Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, and Tim Key.
The Paper Premiere Date
The Paper will begin streaming on Peacock in September 2025.
