I feel like Something About Her is becoming the Normani’s debut album of restaurants. When are Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney gonna finally feed me sandwiches? I know Ariana’s busy on Broadway and whatever, but the fans are getting impatient. We obviously value Vanderpump Rules stars for their super high-quality food and drink establishments over their delightful reality show drama. Scandoval? No, give me the the scando-wich. (See what I did there?)
Okay, okay, Ariana and Katie only actually announced their shop in 2022. That just feels like a distant memory now because *quite a lot* has gone down in the West Hollywood Vanderpump world since then. The Instagram page for the business has nearly 400k followers and boasts an “unapologetically feminine and undeniably delicious” restaurant coming in 2023. Well, at least part of that is a lie, given that it’s 2024 and we’re still waiting on the grand opening. So, what’s the update on Something About Her, you ask? Here’s what we know.
On February 5, Katie dished on the various delays during an appearance on the podcast, The Nikki & Brie Show. She explained that it all comes down to the most boring part of the process — getting permits. “By the time you get someone to come out and do whatever inspection you need to, which can sometimes take weeks, if there’s any kind of repairs or changes you need to make, then that takes the period of time and then you’ve gotta get them to come back,” the Vanderpump Rules star said. She also admitted that she and Ariana took over the lease before they were really prepared to do so. Real.
The good news for stans? It looks like we won’t have to wait much longer for our sandwiches. Katie also shared on the podcast that she and Ariana have now acquired all the permits they need in order to get the final one. “I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and it’s just having to be patient,” she said. “And just kind of like roll with the punches and just like, take things as they come and just kind of get it done.” The reality queen emphasized that they wanted to do things the right way, not get fined, and not have to close right after they opened. I mean, fair enough. Katie added, “It is not easy but we’re so excited. It’s gonna be so great.”
At Ariana’s recent Single AF: An Evening for Bad Bitches show in New York, she also confirmed that everything is ready to go. “So, like, literally the second that I have [an opening] day, you guys will know so hard because me and Katie are chomping at that motherf*cking bit so hard,” she told fans. As they keep chomping, we’ll just have to keep dreaming about the menu and gaze longingly at the photos of the shop.
