Selling Sunset queen Chrishell Stause was very prepared to be an iconic cast member on The Traitors season 3. She obviously has years of valuable reality TV experience under her belt, but she’s also a seasoned soap opera girlie. This diva’s resume includes shows like All My Children, The Young and the Restless, and Days of Our Lives.
If Chrishell was chosen as a Traitor, she definitely would’ve tapped into those soap acting skills. “To be honest with you, I think that’s why going into it, I thought, ‘Oh, this could be fun,'” she shared, adding, “I could definitely kill it.” That being said, the reality star thinks it would be tough for her to “stab people in the back.” Her opp, Tom Sandoval, can’t relate.
Apparently, you can take the girl out of real estate (just long enough to film The Traitors, at least), but you can’t take the real estate out of the girl. “I tried to get Alan to let me sell the castle,” Chrishell admitted. No luck there… yet. I’m really hoping she makes progress on that front, ’cause I have a strong urge to drop everything and move to a Scottish Highlands castle. I could definitely afford it. Definitely.
Chrishell gave us all the Traitors season 3 tea, and she also revealed her biggest fashion regret and what’s in her Notes app. Welcome to the Hall of Betches, Chrishell Stause!!
HALL OF BETCHES INDUCTION:
CHRISHELL STAUSE
When the opportunity to do Traitors first came into your sphere, was it an immediate yes for you? Had you watched the show?
It actually wasn’t, because I was asked to do season 2. I love the show. I’m such a fan, but I would’ve had to have missed my partner’s birthday, and we don’t get our phones. So I was like, “Oh, I can’t do it. I’m big on birthdays.” But then, when season 3 rolled around, they had a different production schedule. So the second season 3 was a go, I was in. I was one of the first cast members in.
It’s crazy to think about. It’s like sliding doors of if you had been on season 2, how would you have fit into that group? It’s so crazy with a show like this, because every season is so different.
I know. I do love being in season 3, though, because you’ll see they really up the game on every single thing. Whether it’s the challenges or just certain elements of the show, it felt like, “Oh. Okay.”
So you competed on Dancing with the Stars a few years ago. Everybody always talks about how Dancing With the Stars is the hardest thing they ever do. How would you compare it?
I feel like they’re similar in some ways and very opposite in others. They’re the same in that you’re in this bubble and it becomes your world and there is nothing else going on. However, Traitors is more psychological warfare. And Dancing with the Stars, you still get your phone, you still get to go home at night. Traitors, it’s a little more intense. It’s a little less sequins and smiling and hitting your mark. Traitors is like, “Oh, shit! I’m about to take a dagger to the back.”
I think people really love your little Bambi’s group with Gabby and with Nikki. Can you talk about the girl power vibes there? Because I feel like you need that on a show like this.
Yeah. I feel like there definitely emerged quite a boys club. And so, we instantly linked together and we’re like, “We need to work together. And let’s take some of these men out.” So I think that you’ll see as the episodes air. It definitely is a little bit of toxic masculinity. So you throw a couple lesbians in that group, it’s like, “Let’s blow this shit up.”
Yeah. I am curious at that first round table, on a scale of one to 10, how much did you actually think Tom’s Sandoval was a traitor? I think that vote was iconic, but I don’t-
Okay. Well, listen, I felt like it was the first vote and a lot of the votes were all over the place. So it was like, “I don’t have anything else to go off of, so don’t piss me off, because now you have my vote.” But, I think going forward, I have to make a concerted effort to not vote just because I don’t like someone. But, it did make it obvious I wasn’t a traitor, because I would’ve killed him.
Fair enough. I can respect that. I’m wondering with your Selling Sunset crew… Who do you think would do the best on The Traitors?
Let me think. Okay. Mary’s terrible at lying or keeping a lie, so I wouldn’t say Mary, which is a good thing in real estate. But, let me think who has a good poker face? I think Chelsea would do really good.
I think Chelsea would be a lot of fun. Of the Traitors … Obviously you didn’t know at the time. Who do you think is giving soap opera-worthy performance this season? You have a lot of knowledge in this area.
I definitely started to clue into some fake crying. And I’m from soap, so I know fake crying when I see it. But, I did feel like I started to peak on a traitor’s over acting.
Do you ever get starstruck?
For sure.
Is there somebody that you’ve encountered in the last few years that really stuck out to you as like, “Wow!”
I remember being at the same party as Beyoncé once and just trying to smell the air as she walked by. It’s normally in music, because in acting, I’ve been in the world a little bit, it’s a little different. I have respect for that person. Like Sandra Bullock, for instance. If I saw her, it’s not like I’m going to be like … I just have such a deep respect for her and I love her. But, there’s something about music where it’s like I turn full fan girl.
How often do you use the Notes app on your phone?
All the time. This one says, “Dean and Nancy’s in Sydney for drinks.” So someone must told me that I should… Oh. I’ve marked down my cycle. There’s lots of things.
Do you have a fashion regret from when you were younger?
A million. There’s literally a Getty image of me on a red carpet. This is not at my house. No. On a red carpet with a rock belt on. It’s rocks put together as a belt on a dress, on a red carpet. It’s tragic, but hilarious. I really thought I was serving.
Maybe you need to repurpose that.
I could wear it to a 2000s party. It was very specific to the time. If I wore it now, you’d think I was legit insane.
