Although I’m personally still recovering from the chaos of the 2024 VMAs, we’ve already arrived at the 2024 Emmys — the second Emmys of this year, I might add. Yes, it was only eight months ago that we watched the last Emmys, which you might recall was literally just The Bear winning every single comedy award, Succession winning every single drama award, and everyone else pretending to be happy for them. That was stan behavior from the voters, honestly. I hope it’s a tad less predictable this time around.

This Emmys is definitely gonna be memorable, because we’re being treated to the best father-son host duo ever, Dan and Eugene Levy of Schitt’s Creek. These bespectacled, witty kings were born to host. In fact, I wouldn’t be mad if they just hosted every year. Who do I talk to about this?

Obviously, the cast of The Bear is returning this year, and I’m rooting for my Only Murders queen, Selena Gomez, and her boomer pals, Steve Martin and Martin Short. Plus, we can look forward to seeing Abbott Elementary icon Quinta Brunson and Palm Royale star Kristen Wiig. I’m not even gonna lie to you — I haven’t seen any of the shows in the drama category besides The Morning Show, but love you, Jen Aniston.

The Emmys voters are already judging the celebs’ acting skills this evening, which means it’s up to us to judge their fashion choices. For this award show, I’m expecting elegant, classy, especially expensive looks, but we’ll see what we get. Let’s get into it: Here are the best and worst dressed celebs at the 2024 Emmys.

QUINTA WINS! Competition over. I’ve been possessed by this ridiculously fabulous dress. She said, “I’m from Abbott Elementary and I’m gonna teach you all a thing or two about fashion.” Begging her to put this mermaid Georges Chakra couture gown in a museum so I can go see it and maybe steal it.

Worst — Dan Levy

Oh, I’m devastated. I was so ready to give you a Best, Dan, but I simply can’t endorse this incredibly awkward piece of shirt sticking up situation. Maybe he’s having allergies? It kinda looks like a built-in tissue.

Best — Selena Gomez

What a beautiful, gorgeous, stunning day to be a lifelong Selenator. I MEAN. This sophisticated black gown with a silvery halter top is everything. And she’s serving some Rare Beauty soft glam, naturally!

Worst — Dakota Fanning

Dakota, you slayed in The Perfect Couple (literally), but this pearl-adorned, nude number leaves a lot to be desired.

Laverne gagged us all, looking like a goth royal in this vintage Alexander McQueen gown complete with a long-ass black shawl and a chunky gold choker. You can never go wrong with black and gold, especially at the Emmys!

Worst — Liza Colón-Zayas

Oh, Liza, I love you, but this aggressive green just feels kind of tacky?? It’s giving more costume vibes than Emmys gown vibes, I fear. No offense to Christian Siriano!

Best — Ilona Maher

A breathtaking combination of cunt and class… I would expect nothing less from my favorite Olympian and Dancing With the Stars contestant. She’s eating in this glamorous navy blue velvet gown.

Worst — Jennifer Aniston

Sigh. Jen, you are a legend, but this boring white dress just isn’t worthy of you or the thrilling, highly addictive drama that is The Morning Show.

Best — Ayo Edebiri

Yesss, chef! Girlie loves a pattern, and in fact, this vibe is pretty reminiscent of her last Emmys dress, which was flowers rather than artistic, colorful patches. Ayo is looking seriously radiant in this orange and black slit gown.

Worst — Nicola Coughlan

Okay, I’m living for her gorgeous soft glam and the shape of the dress, but the metallic is SO metallic. I genuinely think I would love this in a different color.

Best — Devery Jacobs

Call me crazy, but Devery looks pretty angelic in this cream white jacket and explosion of ruffles.

Worst —RuPaul

Listen, I can appreciate a cowboy aesthetic as much as the next girl who’s not from anywhere near the south, but this is kind of an underwhelming look for a fashion icon. It’s basically just a suit with a dash of silver and a cowboy hat.

Dressed like the nominated Outstanding Lead Actor he is tonight! I wanna thank Vivienne Westwood for her services here. The tasteful stache is really the icing on the cake.

Worst — Jesse Tyler Ferguson

Jesse, my guy. What’s with the ~just another day at my boring office job~ energy? I think we can do better than this plain navy suit for the Emmys!

Best — Meryl Streep

Come on, Barbie! Let’s go party! The acting god is a vision in pink this evening. She really decided to serve with this chic, oversized suit complete with a bow blouse.

Worst — Alan Cumming

Oh… I have several questions about why he wrapped a plaid sheet around himself and is carrying the end? I also would like to know more about the skirt over dress pants decision.

Best — Jonathan Bailey

Not Jonathan teasing us with that unbuttoned white silk shirt! I completely approve his red-tinted sunglasses and the flattering cummerbund.

Worst — Saoirse Ronan

Unfortunately, I’m not blown away by this navy two piece set and thick choker, but the Irish loml does look absolutely gorgeous. Respectfully suggesting she plays it a tiny bit less safe next time.
