It was bound to happen eventually: JoJo Siwa and Chris Hughes seem to be getting more serious. Sigh. As we all saw on TikTok, the “Karma” singer and the Love Island season 3 star became super close ~friends~ on the recent season of Celebrity Big Brother. Like, the kind of friends that never stop touching each other and joke about having kids together. Ya know? At the time, JoJo was still in a relationship with her ex, Kath Ebbs, but the Dance Moms alum ultimately dumped the Australian influencer at the Big Brother wrap party. (Kath opened up to Betches about the messy split, sharing, “I think my boundaries were crossed in a way that felt like a betrayal of trust.”)
About a month after the season ended, JoJo and Chris went on a trip to Florida together, and they both shared romantic Insta dumps after. And now, JoJo’s opening up about their current relationship status in great detail… So, are JoJo Siwa and Chris Hughes officially dating? Here’s everything to know about where these two stand.
On June 2, JoJo confirmed to The Guardian: “It’s not platonic anymore, and it’s been a beautiful development, a beautiful connection, and I’m absolutely head over heels for him and he’s the same way.” She also addressed the PR stunt allegations, claiming that she and Chris have a “very genuine connection” and they’re “not faking a thing.” Her message to all the haters? “Clearly, you’ve never been around us. I won’t ever speak for him, but for me personally, the happiness in my life just radiates off of me right now,” JoJo told the outlet. “Literally yesterday, I was massaging my cheeks; I’ve never [before] been in pain from smiling so much.” And I’ve never been in pain from cringing so much…

JoJo’s formal announcement came just one day after Chris shared a Snapchat Story of himself and Jojo lying in bed. In the photo, he’s shirtless and kissing her forehead. “Sleeepinnn beauty,” he wrote in his caption. Welp, we’ll see how long this age gap romance lasts. (He’s 32 and she’s 22, in case you didn’t know.)
JoJo’s May 21 dump included some interesting Chris content, including multiple photos of his hand on her knee and a very cozy joint selfie. Plus, it looks like he met Abby Lee Miller, which seems like a pretty major step for their relationship…
In Chris’ own post, he shared photos of them cuddling on the couch, hugging, and swimming together. And um, I think that’s him posing with JoJo’s mom toward the end of the dump??
The news about this romance doesn’t really come as a surprise, considering there were vibes between them on Big Brother. In one episode, JoJo asked Chris if he wanted spaghetti for dinner, and he had a flirty response. “Yeah, like Lady and the Tramp?” he joked. “No,” JoJo said, “but we can have some together.” He agreed, called her his “darling,” and added, “For you, absolutely anything.” I fear it got creepier from there…

As JoJo was laying down in bed with her eyes closed, Chris leaned in to put lip balm on her lips, and she winced at the unexpected touch. “It’s my finger, don’t worry,” he told JoJo. “Would I ever?” Like the rest of us, JoJo thinks yes, he 100 percent would. “Yeah,” she replied with a knowing smirk, and he admitted: “Probably would actually, yeah.” JoJo laughed off the inappropriate comment and joked, “Sucks to be you.”
And that was hardly the only cringe moment. Just a few days ago on the show, Chris was joking about JoJo having his babies. “I have good swimmers,” he said to her, adding, “I had mine checked.” He even suggested that his and JoJo’s kids would “have great eyes.” He’s also referred to her as his “girlfriend” on the show.
