Emma Chamberlain’s effect on brunette indie pop musicians should be studied. Just one week after Role Model released a heart-wrenching album about his relationship with her, the YouTube star hard-launched her new romance with Peter McPoland, who’s essentially a Role Model clone. Emma and her new man posed for photos at the Paris Olympics alongside her father, so you know it’s pretty serious.
Just last fall, Peter said during an appearance on The Zach Sang Show that he’d never date Emma because she’s his “hero.” (However, he also seemed rather excited to report that she and Role Model were no longer.) When asked if he’d ever go for Emma, Peter was swift to shake his head no. “I love her in business,” he said with a smile. “I appreciate Emma Chamberlain so much… She’s an icon to me. I look up to Emma Chamberlain.” He even called her his Bruce Springsteen.
He could never! And yet, here we are: Here’s everything to know about Emma Chamberlain’s reported new boyfriend, Peter McPoland.
Peter is a sad boi, brunette, New England native, indie pop singer/songwriter with tattoos who absolutely reveres Emma. (She has a type.) He signed with Columbia Records in 2021 and has two albums out, Slow Down and Piggy. Emma’s BF has about a million Spotify monthly listeners and 160 thousand Instagram followers. Those numbers will probably go up soon, due to the Emma effect.
Peter was born on November 3, 2000, so he’s 23 years old — basically the same age as Emma.
Emma and Peter were first linked last May when fans spotted them together outside of Rockefeller Center in New York City. The influencer was seen with the singer again later that month at the Kilby Block Party music festival in Utah. Based on Peter’s striking similarities to Role Model, everyone just kinda assumed the connection was romantic.

Maybe? But the lyrics are pretty vague. “Help, I think there’s something going on / Between you and me, I lost my cool,” Peter sings in the first verse. In the chorus, he croons, “Listen, honey, can you dig your man?” I think the song is about guys upping their game to be cool enough for the girls they’re dating, so that could apply to him dating Emma, the coolest of the cool girls.
