Whitney And Miranda Gave Me The Demi MomTok Update You've Been Waiting For After 'SLOMW' S2

It can’t be easy being the underdog in a group of media-trained Mormon TikTok moms, but somehow Whitney Leavitt and Miranda McWhorter made their season 2 runs on Secret Lives of Mormon Wives pretty seamless, even while pregnant (in Whitney’s case). The return of Secret Wives was all about old beefs: Taylor vs. Miranda, Taylor vs. Dakota, Jen Affleck (no relation!) vs. Jessi, and Whitney vs. well… everyone! At least at first, because the second SLOMW season did sometimes see a squashing of the beef. More often, though, these rivalries and alliances wreaked brand new havoc with the group’s precarious sinner-saints friend dynamic.

Miranda had a big task: coming face to face with her swinger sister and ex-best friend, Taylor Frankie Paul, after Taylor put their dirty laundry in the streets (just how dirty was naturally a huge topic of debate). For Whitney, seeking redemption seemed pretty doable until one soft-spoken, sweethearted obstacle strong-armed her ascent: Mikayla, who found her voice between the seasons and certainly let Whitney hear it. So, where do Miranda and Whitney stand with the group now? And does that group even include Demi, who threatened to bow out in the season finale? I chatted with the Mormon Wives to find out the MomTok updates the fans need.

Who created MomTok?

All of the women, even Demi, have to agree that chaotic queen Taylor Frankie Paul is a founding member of MomTok, without whom the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives would still be just that — a secret.

But in season 2, Demi Engemann raised an interesting question. Since MomTok has become more than a group chat or a hashtag, and it now comes with financial compensation, is this a sisterhood or a business? Miranda thinks “MomTok is a business to a degree, but [they’re] also just lucky to have genuine and authentic friendships on top of it.”

If it is a business, Whitney told me, “I think we need someone outside of MomTok to be the CEO.” But if she “had to pick” within the group, Miranda chooses “Jessi, just because she is a CEO already,” so Jessi “can run a pretty tight and efficient ship.” Whitney co-signed, so that’s 2 votes down!

With Demi trying to vote Taylor out of the group, and Whitney trying to work her way back in, both Salt Lake stars had reasons to strike up a friendship… or was it an alliance? “Yes, I am still close with Demi,” Whitney clarified confirming the friendship was genuine. Since filming wrapped, and Demi followed in Whitney’s footsteps by threatening to leave MomTok, the two have bonded “what it feels like to be on the outs” because Whitney doesn’t want “anyone to ever have to feel alone.” That common thread has “cultivated into a relationship” for which Whitney will “forever be so grateful.”

Demi finished the season on shaky terms after spiraling over Taylor’s CMAs shade. Demi had tried to lay down the law as a “fan favorite” but ended up ostracizing herself from her bestie Jessi (thanks to Taylor spilling some shit talk Demi allegedly said about Jessi’s salon). Worse, she put everyone else in an awkies position by declaring them bad friends for not giving in to her ultimatum. So, does Whitney think Demi has a chance to make amends? “I think just kind of the same for me coming back into season two, I think just some hard conversations need to be had,” Whitney explained.

Are Miranda McWhorter and Taylor Frankie Paul friends again?

The season started shaky for Miranda and Taylor, since Taylor finally got into the gory details of what Mormons consider swinging. After all the drama, Miranda is “so grateful” that she and Taylor “were able to talk it out, finally see eye to eye after all this time and move on.” Things haven’t been “perfect” between the ex-BFFs, meaning “both of our healing individually and within our friendship has not been linear,” so there’s been “some bumps along the way.”

But since Taylor went ahead and put it all on the table, their “line of communication has gotten so much better,” Miranda shared.  Miranda seemed happy she and Taylor were in “a good place” and could even “have a friendship again” since she once “didn’t even know if we’d be able to be in the same room together ever.”

Are Mikayla and Whitney friends again?

On Mayci’s pickleball trip, Whitney told the group she wanted them to feel she was apologetic. When I asked Whitney who she felt she owed the biggest apology to, she told me, “Honestly, I feel like it was with everyone. I think, just obviously, I had hurt the group as a whole, and some obviously felt that hurt more than others.” When it comes to accepting Whitney’s apology, however, Whitney made it clear, “whether that’s received or not, that’s out of my control.”

Naturally, when it comes to Whitney and rebuilding bridges in season 2, her relationship with Mikayla stands out as the one that’s been burned. Torched, even. Whitney continued, speaking about how “it takes two to even have a relationship,” so I asked her who, precisely, she felt wasn’t making an equal effort. Whitney whipped out her trademark mischievous smile and teased, “You know the answer to that.” Yep, I’m pretty sure Mikayla will too!
