Walton Goggins Shares Emotional Reason For Unfollowing Aimee Lou Wood In A Joint Interview

What was your favorite part of White Lotus season 3, and why was it hyperfixating over everything the cast said and did offscreen? Just when I thought Jason Isaacs’ comparison of filming with the cast in Thailand to Lord of the Flies, with “as much drama” as deaths on the show, was the hottest goss to gush over, Walter Goggins and Aimee Lou Wood said, “Hold my Thai iced tea.” Walton and Aimee Lou have been going back and forth in the press since the season dropped, first sparking IRL romance rumors that eventually devolved from a failed showmance into a full-on feud. So, it makes sense these two had pretty much no other choice than to clear the air, once and for all, together. I love my working actor professionals! Aimee Lou and Walton Goggins shut down feud rumors, including why Walton unfollowed Aimee Lou on Instagram.

Why did Walton Goggins unfollow Aimee Lou Wood on Instagram?

Long story short: Walton isn’t good at saying goodbyes after projects, using the fact that he “didn’t talk to [Timothy Olyphant] for almost two years” after wrapping their long tenure on Justified, and he’s “done that with every single thing that I’ve done.” Walton told Variety that if he were following any of his other co-stars from previous projects, he would have unfollowed them, too, because that’s his process.

Walton cried while adding that shooting White Lotus was particularly painful because Thailand and Bangkok, where they filmed the show, are where Walton went “searching for peace” after his wife died by suicide in 2004. So after the show wrapped, “because of [his] history in this place,” Walton decided he “needed to begin to process saying goodbye to Rick and Chelsea.” So he told Aimee Lou he “needed to take a step back from everyone,” and Aimee was “extremely supportive about that” because she knew Rick and Chelsea “meant everything to” Walton.

Since he “couldn’t handle” speaking to Aimee Lou, unfollowing her IG seems like a pretty natural progression, especially considering Aimee Lou’s assessment that explained that they’re both “the two most emotional, sensitive people!” Which def tracks since they were both crying by the end of this interview.

Are Walton Goggins and Aimee Lou Wood friends again?

Yes, Walton Goggins and Aime Lou Wood are cool; in fact, they’ll be “friends for fucking ever,” according to Walton, now that he’s taken the space they needed. Even before they tearfully talked it out during their chat, when they walked into their joint photoshoot for Vanity Fair, the staff described them as “visibly emotional seeing each other” as they embraced for 30 seconds, which Walton says is because they haven’t been in the same city to talk since all the media mess happened (I mean they were both at the Met Gala in May, but makes sense).

How did Walton Goggins and Aimee Lou Wood meet?

After arriving in Thailand and spending some time “so fucking alone in [his] head,” Walton invited his co-star to lunch and knew immediately, “This is gonna work,” when he saw her walking around the corner because it felt like he “knew this person for 100 years.” Aimee was very nervous and had Walton order for her during lunch. Walton added that even though his acting process is “being alone,” “Aimee as Chelsea wouldn’t let me do that,” so they got close on set.

What happened in Walton and Aimee’s cut sex scene?

Before Rick and Chelsea die a very tragic lovers’ death, Walton and Aimee filmed a missing scene where the fictional couple “talked about their relationship,” reiterating “the plan” was to stay together forever, like they had said earlier at breakfast, according to Aimee Lou. Then, this scene ended in sex between the two characters, flipping their first sex scene on its head with Rick being on top holding Chelsea “so, so delicate,” in the cut moment, Aimee Lou went on. Walton described the cut scene as “two people who were free” and said that the “very long, suspended moment…was so powerful.”

What was Walton and Aimee’s feud really about?

Walton has put it in print, people, that “There is no feud. I adore, I love this woman madly, and she is so important to me. He then compared Aimee to beloved actresses Goldie Hawn and Meg Ryan, adding that Aimee “can do anything, and she will…she’s special. There is no feud. She is love, and I know that I am that to her. We care about each other very deeply.” That settles that!

Walton says the reason he didn’t say this in a recent Times interview, where he made headlines for going the ~no comment~ route about his status with Aimee, is because he would “never” speak for both of them, and Aimee wasn’t there. Walton doesn’t regret blowing off that interview because “What [the interviewer] was insinuating, it was so disgusting. It was so appalling. I was flabbergasted.”

Aimee Lou also explained she never wanted Walton to pass on the opportunity to host SNL just because she wasn’t okay with their harsh parody of her that made “the woman’s appearance the punchline.” She did not cry in the streets about it, nor did she tell any sources she wanted Walton to reject the gig since he’s had his own career for decades. Walton similarly corrected that he did not make a return jab at Aimee in the press for the SNL situation, explaining: “If I’m gonna say something, but I’m gonna say it to your face.”
