Everything We Know About The 'Verity' Movie Adaptation So Far

There’s another Colleen Hoover movie adaptation on the way and it’s no surprise, considering It Ends With Us made a whopping $346 million at the box office, despite lots of fairly obvious cast drama. (Lookin’ at you, Blake Lively.) The movie adaption of Colleen’s self-published 2018 novel, Verity, is officially on the way and will be produced by Amazon MGM Studios. “Verity is coming to theaters and I am so excited for this cast and the script and the director and the whole team bringing this to life,” Colleen wrote in a November 21 Insta post. “Cannot wait.” I know all you diehard Colleen girlies also cannot wait, and fortunately, we’re starting to get some intriguing details about the upcoming film. Here’s everything we know about the Verity movie so far, including the release date, plot details, and cast.

Verity: Premiere Date, Cast, Plot

When Is Verity Coming Out?

No premiere date for Verity has been announced yet, RIP. However, I’m guessing there will be more updates coming soon, so stay tuned. For now, you can focus on Glicked, or if you’re like me, just go see Wicked a dozen times and ignore Gladiator 2.

What Is Verity About?

The Gone Girl vibes story follows a struggling writer named Lowen who gets a life-changing opportunity to finish a successful series by best-selling author Verity Crawford. Lowen is hired by Verity’s husband, Jeremy Crawford, to complete the series after Verity has a “mysterious accident” and is left in a coma. Things get interesting when Lowen stumbles upon an unfinished manuscript of Verity’s that appears to be a shocking biography of her life. Lowen goes on a journey to figure out what’s true and what isn’t (hence the name and title “Verity,” which comes from the latin word for “truth.”)

Who’s In The Verity Cast?

On Nov. 20, Amazon MGM Studios announced that Princess of Genovia Anne Hathaway will star as Verity Crawford, the author who has an accident. At the same time, they announced that Michael Showalter, who worked on The Idea of You and The Big Sick, will be directing Verity. Sadly, no other casting announcements for the film have been made just yet, but they honestly had me at Anne. While I wait for this movie, I’ll happily rewatch The Idea of You 50 or so times. (I shan’t be watching It Ends With Us again due to the devastating plot, impressively brutal outfits, and plethora of Blake Lively-related controversies. Sorry, Colleen.)
