Oh! I wasn’t expecting to be emotionally punched square in the gut during this award show, but that’s what happens when the Grey’s Anatomy cast reunites on stage at the 2024 Emmys. Knocked me on my ass! Ellen Pompeo, Katherine Heigl, Chandra Willson, James Pickens Jr.,and Justin Chambers presented the award for best Supporting Actor in Limited Anthology Series or Movie on a Seattle Grace/Grey-Sloan Memorial-inspired hospital set.
Host Anthony Anderson introduced the group and just hearing Ellen voice talking about Shonda Rhimes is my security blanket. She starts with: “When the first episode of Grey’s Anatomy aired in March of 2005, I’m not sure that Shonda Rhimes knew that she created a show that would have a lasting imprint on television and create lifelong friends.”
Justin goes on to say, “Over 400 episodes and counting a tribute to everyone who has been a tribute to our family.”
Cue Katherine: “And yes, there have been some changes over the years *** but the one thing that has remained a constant is the incredible fan base.”

**Editor’s note that, no, I cannot ignore Chandra’s little giggles during this moment.
Chandra said, “You stayed with us through plane crashes, super storms, earthquakes, and a global pandemic. And as we start our 20th season we are officially the longest running prime time medical drama in tv history.”
(No mention of the the episode where a man who got his penis piercing caught on his ex-wife’s IUD??? Ok.)
James ends the speech with, “And that would not be possible without all of you, so to all of our fans and to all of you, we thank you.”

The photos from the reunion are enough put me into a state that would require someone to “push one of epi” (I didn’t go to med school, can you tell?).

Yes, I wish Justin and Katherine were standing next to each other as much as you do.
Obviously, the fan reactions were as unhinged as you’d expect.
