It’s almost that beautiful time of the year when we collectively enter our Blair Waldorf era and obsess over the Met steps. As a beauty who loves nothing more than sleep, I am obviously very excited about the upcoming Met Gala theme, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.” Every year, the fashion event raises funds for the museum’s Costume Institute and allows my friends and I (seasoned industry experts) an opportunity to critique celebs’ bold or boring outfit choices viciously. While the Zendayas, Rihannas, and Blake Livelys of the world always slay at these shindigs, some of their peers are less, um, reliable in the fashion category.

For some reason, I’ve yet to receive my invitation in the mail… I’ll be checking in with Anna Wintour about that soon. There are just a few months to mentally and emotionally prepare for this extravagant evening on the first Monday of May, so let’s get you all caught up. Here’s everything you need to know about the 2024 Met Gala, including an explanation of the “Sleeping Beauties” theme.

What Is The Met Gala 2024 Theme?

“Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” will “explore notions of rebirth and renewal, using nature as a metaphor for the impermanence of fashion,” according to a news release from the Met. The exhibition celebrates significant archival pieces spanning over 400 years and will include designs by heavy hitters Elsa Schiaparelli, Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Hubert de Givenchy, and more, per Vogue.

What Is The Met Gala 2024 Dress Code?

I hope you have your nature fit ready because the dress code is “The Garden of Time.” It was apparently inspired by J.G. Ballard’s 1962 short story of the same name. I have a feeling things are gonna get highly floral… the announcement video featured a painting of a flower garden.

Who Are The Met Gala 2024 Hosts?

This is an iconic lineup: Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, and Chris Hemsworth. In a tweet about Zendaya hosting, Vogue wrote, “If anyone is up for the challenge of delivering a memorable fashion look on the Met steps, it’s Zendaya. Since her first #MetGala, the star has consistently served ensembles that are head-turning and on theme.” I couldn’t have said it better myself! Zendaya For President, please.

How To Watch the Met Gala 2024

Devastatingly, the Gala is top-secret and isn’t recorded or broadcasted for us lowly non-celebs. (The celebs aren’t even allowed to have phones there.) However, the red carpet portion is usually live-streamed, thank god. We’ll have to wait until closer to the date for more details on how to tune in for that!
