Someone must have put a call into Mr. President because Phaedra Parks is making a long-awaited comeback to The Real Housewives of Atlanta. After a not-so-fabulous exit from the series after season 9, America’s most glamorous funeral director/lawyer has slowly crept back for her peach after a very public firing. You know what, let’s just get the elephant out of the way now: There are a lot of people confused about how Phaedra is welcomed back with open arms in light of Kenya Moore’s notable firing from RHOA for her conduct concerns while filming season 15. Phaedra did disappointingly repeat a criminally dangerous rumor about her former bestie Kandi Burruss, who she was clearly still extremely hurt by after Kandi and Todd took her prison-bound ex-husband’s side in the divorce. Phaedra was fired and kept off Bravo for nearly a decade in response to that behavior, which she has apologized for. It seems fair to say, at least in Bravo’s eyes, there’s a difference between repeating an inappropriate rumor off-camera and doing inappropriate behavior yourself on camera. Every action definitely has a consequence but it kind of seems like Phaedra’s suffered hers by now, no? If you were willing to cheer her on during Traitors, maybe give the gal the benefit of the doubt as she steps back into the big leagues from which she was a trailblazer of. With the grace extended to Vicki Gunvalson when her boyfriend lied about having cancer in mind, let’s talk about all the reasons we’re going to have fun now that Phaedra Parks is back on RHOA!!
Reasons why Phaedra returning to RHOA is the best news of the year
Phaedra and Porsha are reunited for season 16
Frick and frack are back and (we hope) better than ever! Porsha peaced out of RHOA instead of taking the heat for getting married to her kinda friend Fallon’s definite ex-husband Simon, a relationship which has already fallen into shambles. If anyone can get Porsha to open up about the mess and keep it real with us, it’ll be the deep sisterhood she shares with her favorite jokester, Phaedra Parks.
Phaedra was on season 10 of Married to Medicine
Phaedra dipped her toe back into Bravo during her debut appearance on Married to Medicine. While season 10 had its own road bumps between cast cohesion (sending Quad home in the middle of a cast trip felt particularly harsh), Phaedra’s ability to get silly and spar with the best of them was a true highlight. Who else could arrange such a ridiculous casket stunt? The pageantry, the wigs, the OTT parties for her adorable children. Moreeeee, please.
Phaedra was a Traitors season 2 breakout star
She’s not only a Housewife, she’s now a gamer. Phaedra’s ability to bring her sense of humor but also put the screws to the big boys like Dan was exactly the dynamic energy RHOA has been missing. Let’s be honest, the past three seasons of the most enjoyable franchise have been underwhelming because the playful cat-and-mouse energy Atlanta has always thrived on has given way to volatile ping-ponging between boredom and screaming. Phaedra knows how to fight with her friends without consistently burning bridges. If I know Sheree, and I think I do, with some extra room in the cast budget she’ll be dying to film. The fact that she and Phaedra are still close after all these years is touching to see and something we need more of. I’m not saying a full reboot should be out of the question, but for now, this will certainly do.
