The US production team of Love Is Blind saw all the hype around Love Is Blind UK and said “Hold my beer.” I pretty much always root for all of the LIB couples that manage a healthy balance between annoying and cute, and at first, Stephen and Monica fit the bill. But the minute I saw Monica and Stephen’s sloppy first kiss I knew I wasn’t probably wasn’t going to be the president of their fan club. To be fair, I had already stopped shipping them a few episodes before that when Stephen and Monica had an enlightening conversation about their family backgrounds. By enlightening, I mean I learned a whole new set of red flags to look out for should I ever find myself single in Washington D.C. Lucky for me though, no matter how obsessed I become with these total strangers, I’m not on Love Is Blind so I’m not the one engaged to Mr. Chatty Kathy. Are Monica and Stephen still together after Love Is Blind? Let’s open our eyes and find out.

It looks like Monica and Stephen are officially dunzo. Things seemed to be perfect after their red carpet-reveal until the couple arrived in Mexico where Monica divulged that Stephen talks too much, to the point that it’s difficult for her to be heard. She also told the cameras (like, multiple times) that Stephen wasn’t “the hottest” person on the island, but because she fell in love with his soul he was the hottest to her. Yeah, that’s never a good sign. Stephen certainly didn’t make things easier when he tried to charm Monica and the other ladies with talk about he anticipated girls in DMs offering to suck to you know. How charming!
Turns out it didn’t even take the season airing for Stephen to give in to temptation. The man who previously conceded he was a “technical cheater” decided to give sexting another go during his engagement. A late-night sleep study apparently got Stephen in the mood to get freaky, and somehow Monica found out about his cheating in real time. By the end of episode 8, he’s moved out, and venmoed Monica in front of her for “carrying his weight.” I personally think compensation should be a legally mandated part of breakups where one party acted a damn fool going forward.

The trailer for the rest of the season shows Stephen expressing how he’s “extremely overwhelmed” by their life outside the pods. It also looks like there will be a scene where a fellow “barely black” relative of Stephen’s gives him advice in a suit. So maybe, against all odds, there is still a wedding? Even if Monica did walk down the aisle, which we won’t know for sure until the finale airs on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, I would hope she did so solely to publicly lay this man out for his sins.
After checking out their socials, it seems like Monica isn’t over the betrayal. Since the show wrapped, she has posted a flood of thirst traps to Instagram with captions about being “strong” and doing “just fine.” I also (unfortunately) stumbled upon a September 2023 video of Stephen pretending to be a spy with a toy gun above the hashtag “bachelor life.” Scary stuff!
