It seems like only yesterday was Millie Bobby Brown was just that little kid Eleven from Stranger Things. But nearly a decade since Stranger Things first premiered in 2016 (let that sink in and make you feel old), Millie Bobby Brown is so much more than Eleven, including a full-out grown-up married woman. Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi (that’s right, Jon Bon Jovi’s son) got married in 2024, and ever since then, they’ve been complete relationship goals. Actually, even before they got married, they were basically the heart-eyes emoji personified.
And, naturally, Millie wants to make sure everyone knows she and Jake more than just together; they’re married. While walking the red carpet at the Electric Slate premiere in Los Angeles on February 24, the 21-year-old firmly shut down a reporter who asked for a shot of Millie “with her boyfriend.”
“That’s not my boyfriend,” she said, before smiling and posing anyway. But let us never forget. Jake Bongiovi is Millie Bobby Brown’s husband.
But what was the journey like to get to this point? Here’s everything to know about Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi’s relationship timeline, including the moments they switched from “bff,” to “bf,” to “h.”
Jake posted the first public pic of the couple in 2021, although they weren’t calling themselves a couple yet. He simply captioned the selfie, “bff <3” but it definitely sparked some relationship rumors.
The relationship rumors continued when later that same month, Millie and Jake were spotted holding hands in New York City.
It took a few months, but they made it Instagram official with a post on Millie’s Instagram, taken from the top of the London Eye.
In honor of Millie’s 18th birthday, the newly minted couple dressed up as Barbie and Ken together. Remember, this was in the lead up to the Barbie movie, so this was that point in pop culture when everything was Barbie pink.
It’s that typical couples milestone everyone hits: walking your first red carpet together. For Millie and Jake, it was the 2022 BAFTAs.
Like any good girlfriend, Millie posted on IG for Jake’s birthday. She also took the opportunity to unveil a nickname that I’m sure only they understand: Schroobie Noobie.
Millie and Jake celebrated one year together with a big smooch at a Harry Styles concert and a road trip with some truly breathtaking views.
Millie started the year off strong with an Instagram post celebrating all her favorite things, including her “partner for life.” Even then, Millie was making it clear she’s in it for the long haul.
Jake celebrates Millie’s birthday with the sweetest post dedicated to her. He captioned it, “Another year around the sun together happy 19th to the girl of my dreams. I love you more than words can describe. Everything about you is golden down to the core.”
Millie posted a subtle engagement announcement with an Instagram post showcasing a ring on that finger and the caption: “I’ve loved you three summers now, honey, I want ’em all.” Jake had a similar post with just the one-word caption, “Forever.”

In an interview with The Sunday Times, Millie revealed that Jake proposed with one of her mom’s rings. “I’ve always loved that ring, it’s always stuck out to me, so she gave it to Jake,” she said. “They were in cahoots about the whole proposal. I love that I can always keep a piece of my mum with me.” I don’t think it gets much sweeter than that.
After being named Glamour Woman of the Year in 2023, Millie gave an interview where she spoke a lot about her engagement to Jake. “When I met Jake, I just felt I could be loud. He embraced that and encouraged that. And I fell in love with myself while being with him.”
She also said, “I wanted to be the woman that my mom is to me and I wanted to be the woman that my grandmother was to me,” she continues. “So that was never my, like, intention, to be a wife. But after meeting Jake and seeing, ‘Oh, I don’t have to be this stereotypical wife for him. He doesn’t want me to be that either. He wants me to go and do my thing and live my life, and he will hold my hand in the process of that.’ I was like, ‘Oh, I do want this.'”

A partner who empowers you to be your best self? Sounds like Jake is the real deal for Millie.
After months of wedding planning, the couple quietly tied the knot in a private ceremony. According to The Sun, a source said, “It was a very low-key, romantic affair with their closest family with them as they said their vows.”
Millie confirmed the marriage herself with another Instagram post. This time, she shared a pic of her in shorts that say “wifey” and a hat that says “wife of the party.” It doesn’t get much clearer than that; Millie Bobby Brown is a Wife, with a capital W.
After their private ceremony earlier in the year, Millie and Jake had a much grander affair with a second wedding in Tuscany, Italy. Millie posted a gorgeous Instagram carousel of photos from the wedding, along with the caption, “forever and always, your wife.”
That same month, Jake posted a pic of the couple in matching Mr. and Mrs. Bongiovi shirts, just in case anyone forgot they got married.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Millie talked about living on a farm in Georgia with Jake, and how things “always felt right with him.” No wonder she’s so dedicated to the wife life.
